" For Those That Like To Groove, Part 36 "
What's going on out there HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD posse ?
Is this work week wearing you the fuck out ?....I feel you, it's times like these that I turn off the cell phone and turn the volume up on the sound system to drown out all the nonsense that the daily grind throws in my direction...
"FTTLTG" is 36 chapters deep at this point....DAMN..
And in case you didn't know my inspiration for this segment came from those New Jersey brothers Twin Hype....On their first album they had a fresh song called "For Those That Like To Groove", so I decided to keep that spirit alive by adding on...
This time around the good folks over at Voodoo Funk splash the set with a Nigerian funk mix....Over an hour of body rockers troop !!!

Former Def Jukie "Masai Bey" is in a class by himself when it comes to flipping bars....
Seriously.......
I can't think of anyone out there that sounds remotely close to what he is doing...On "Panacea Goldmine" the bugged out frequencies reach an all time high....

Produced and written by Masai Bey for Masai Bey Music (ASCAP). All tracks recorded and mixed by Khem at ABZU, except tracks 11 & 12 which were recorded and mixed by Steve Z. and BMS @ Ecstatica. Additional audio work was done to all tracks by Nasa @ Nasa Labs. Turntables by Khem and Masai Bey.

" Golden State Warriors, Part 4 "
It's a crying shame that Fishbone haven't received the accolades that they deserve....
After 25 years in the music BUSINESS, countless tours, and major label support in the beginning of their career, the band still remains under the radar somewhat.....So many groups copied their whole steez and reaped huge benefits without paying proper homage...
What does this have to do with Hip Hop you might ask yourself ?
1..Fishbone have maintained their initial anti mainstream stance....
2..Instead of falling victim to current trends, the band still unleashes their form of original music..
3..They truly do not give a fuck (sounds like Hip Hop to me)....
Just peeped their documentary "Everyday Sunshine" and it instantly put me in a heavy trance.......I highly suggest that you track down a copy if you know what's best for you...
" Tuesday Rockets "

" Monday Night Live "
If you want me to check your demos, beats, rhymes, flicks, or hate mail, you can send it to ZJUDAH @YAHOO.COM....
No politicks, or any of that other new age bullshit - if I like it you will get some well deserved burn on the battlefield folks and that's a promise....
Anyway, since it's Monday night and I'm in a groovy mood I might as well hit you with some certified firepower....Chicago Gangsters "Michigan Avenue"...
BLAM, BLAMZ...
" Joint Of The Day "
Cuban Linx 2, War Report 2, and now Doe Or Die 2 ya'll....
Some dudes dismiss sequels on general principle, but I'm not complaining one bit, especially when A.Z. manhandles a Buckwild production like this with the greatest of ease...
"My Niggas" is the first official leak from Doe Or Die 2.....DONT SLEEP.
" Inspector Deck : Are You Listening 2 "
Rebel INS AKA Inspector Deck steps away from the mic for a second and rocks his sampler on his latest beat excursion, "Are You Listening 2"....There were a couple joints on this that caught me by surprise..

" Sir Menelik Promo Steez "
" KA Speaks "
In my opinion KA's "Grief Pedigree" is one of the best releases in 2012 thus far.....
It has been on constant rotation ever since I got my hands on it awhile back....Crazy rhyme schemes, moody atmospheric production, and a healthy dose of Brooklyn grittiness make this project stand out apart from the rest...
Passion of the Weiss recently caught up with the former Natural Elements member for a in-depth interview that you should peep..
"There is a noticeable growth and progress in your music, from Natural Elements to Nightbreed to Iron Works to now. Do you think it was a matter of aging and learning and experience?
It was aging. It was aging and going through a lot of shit I was going through. Decade difference… that’s real. You grow, become different person in a 5 or 10 year span. I definitely did. That helped me mature vocally, timing wise, my cadence, my voice, knowing what I wanted to say. It takes time for an artist to know what kind of artists he wants to become. And I learned that, I know what I want to be.
My flow, delivery, I feel like it’s a quiet rage now. Everything I’m saying is very passionate, I really feel it. Some of the songs I can’t even perform without getting emotional. It’s hard, some of these songs… just saying it… (Ka pauses, affected for a very brief moment) It’s not just lyrics. When I talk about one of my friends that got murdered I see him and I’m sad he’s not with me right now. ‘Spoken memorial to all my losses’ – when I say that shit it’s real. Saying it right now I’m getting all emotional. I flash and see all my friends that I wish I could share the album with.
So yeah I noticed the style change. The years helped me out. And life experiences made me the artist that I feel like I am today".

" Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Soldier Field, Part 14 "
My girl is from the lovely city of Chicago so we usually end up flying out there at least once a year.....I have a couple Hip Hop comrades there as well, and every time I touch down my dudes will school me on rare Chicago Hip Hop, past and present....
The last time I was out there my dude Mattrock pointed me in the direction of a windy city slept-on gem...Fully - G "There She Goes Again" produced by Diamond Kut released on a white label in 1995...
Only 50 copies were initially pressed up so I'm not surprised that many people outside of the Chicago area have never heard of it....."FG'" finesses the track with the greatest of ease with bars dissing money hungry members of the opposite sex....And the production rocks a sample that "Buckwild" went on to use for the "Celph Titled" show.......
It's a damn shame this joint didn't get the attention that it deserved.....Witty lines, breezy soulful loops, and a well placed "Passin Me By" scratch sentence = WIN..........
The good folks over at Black Pegasus recently re-issued this piece of Chicago Hip Hop history for all of you that appreciate vinyl like myself...
YOU CAN COP HERE....

A2 There She Goes Again (Street)
A3 There She Goes Again (Andy C Remix)

" New Shit On Deck "
Even though I fully I understand why some of my peoples are frustrated with certain aspects of today's Hip Hop landscape, you will never see me waving the " everything sucks after 1996 " flag....
WHY ?
It's because I hear fly shit on a constant basis....Sure you might have to filter out a gang of shit before you get to the jewels, but if your a dedicated Hip Hop student you will eventually stumble upon new material that will hold your attention...
These cats P.I.R. had a couple raw blazers on their debut release, "The Rap Sheet".....

" Under The Radar "
Like I said a million times before- I usually scan a project thoroughly before giving it burn on the BATTLEFIELD....Quality over quantity is the Modus Operandi over here, unlike the majority of blogs I see out there these days...
Every once in awhile I will make an exception to the rule....Today I'm going to let a mix fly without even hearing it first, because I know for a fact that it will be flooded with jewelry based off the playlist alone.....

" Scratch Overdose 10 "
You know it's going to be a good day when we get to hear Florida scratch pioneer Magic Mike, Craze, and Q-Bert on a track together.....Hopefully we will get more collabs like this in the future..
I can remember a time when Mike was one of the fastest DJ's out there....I'm glad that he is still practicing on his scratch patterns in the new millennium......SALUTE.
*My only complaint is that they shouldn't have included those wack keyboard lines underneath....
Magic Mike:
“When I set out to do ‘Journey Into Scratchin’, I wanted to work with 2 DJ’s that I respected the most in the genre where I started. I watched QBert back in the New Music Seminar days when I was at the peak of my career and all I could say was wow. DJ Craze took what I helped start in Florida to a whole different level. Once again I was in amazement. It was only right that I do this song with the 2 guys that keep me practicing to this day. I am thankful and humbled that they chose to work with me…”
QBert:
“I need to work with the legends, Craze and Magic Mike more often! I hope this is just a start!”
Craze:
“When Magic Mike asked me to be on a track with him and Q-Bert, it was a no brainer. Those two are my heros when it comes to djing. Magic Mike has inspired many generations of djs and producers and QBert will forever be the best scratcher in the world… It was truly an honor.”

" Magnum : Fully Loaded "
Here are a couple reasons why Magnum's only full length album "Fully Loaded" will cost you over 400 bucks...
1..It's crazy rare, consider yourself extremely blessed if you spot this during your digging festivities..
2..This album is flooded with supreme musicianship, ill concepts, and well thought out compositions...
3..Some of your favorite Hip Hop producers flipped samples from this album, which drove the price sky high...
In my opinion NO album in the history of recorded music is worth that amount of cheese (maybe I'm just a cheap skate when it comes to digging HAHA)....Don't get it twisted though famo- these are some golden grooves that will put you in a 1974 state of mind...

HAHA.....Especially when he tries to emulate the sound of someone falling off a cliff...

1..On Spit Gemz latest mixtape (Welcome To Hell's Gate), they rock over one of my productions for "Sinister Grin" featuring J-Love, Shaz IllYork, and Starker.....

Needless to say I'm excited about that shit....BLAM.

" Easy Mo Bee's Top Ten "
Those dudes over at Ego Trip continue with their streak of dope features with Easy Mo Bee's top ten sample flips...This is slowly becoming one of my favorite things to check for on the web...
The former "Rhyming Is Fundamental" member goes in heavy by describing production techniques down to the smallest detail...
WU TANG CLAN- "Take It Back"
Sample Source: Bob James – “Nautilus” (CTI, 1974)
Easy Mo Bee: Basically, I wanted those bells to come out. The bell sounds Bob James was achieving on the keyboard. In a way you can kinda say what I did was [Main Source's] “Live at the Barbeque” to the next level. I was like, I want something a little bit more intricate than [the pattern on] “Live at the Barbeque.” So I’m sampling the kick and snare, but they’re like kick and snare pieces with bits of music left on them. I’m sitting there and I’m playing it back and I kinda ended up getting a slightly new drum pattern out of it too. I added some light guitar sounds on top. Played a bass line that contained some of the original notes from “Nautilus,” but it was slightly different. And it just felt good. And plus, I always wanted to use that, man. Like all of the samples that I wanted to use people done already raped ‘em. So it’s like if you coming behind them you gotta do something great with ‘em or just leave it alone, man.

Mr. Dan Greenpeace lets the pianos rock on his latest offering "Piano Breaks 2"....
" So I should probably put this into some kind of context. Back in 1998 a then fledgling bedroom DJ by the name of Yoda put out a mix tape called ‘Piano Breaks’ (Google it - it’s out there somewhere) using rap records that used piano samples. I was a fan as soon as I heard his early mix tapes and went on to help him release others on my Fat Lace imprint like ‘Jewbonics’ as well as our first collaboration ‘Jews Paid’, the precursor to ‘Unthugged’. So roll on some 14 years and ‘Unthugged 3D’ is about to drop but in an act of total randomness sparked by an idea seeded on a long ass flight, I decided to precede our new collab with a mix tape of my own, an homage to the original Piano Breaks ".
