"New Ghostface Shit"

If anyone else tried to rhyme on "Computer Love" like this, I would most likely turn the shit off.....But we are dealing with "Ghostface" people....He knows how to flip anything, and make it his own....This cut will be on his new album, due out soon.....Damn, this song is funnier than a motherfucker.....

"Time 2 Get Serious"

When "Serious Jones" signed to "D.T.P.", I knew it was a step in the wrong direction....It just didn't seem like he fit in with a label that is more concerned with 'Club Bangers", than actual Hip Hop type shit.....Anyway, as you all know he is off that label and on to other things.....This is his new video, and he actually addresses the "D.T.P." label drama.......The beat is a little shaky, but if you actually listen to the lyrics, the brother is saying something.....

" Get Biz On Oct.31st"

Biz Markie will be spinning at 111 Minna {S.F.}....Along side Platurn, King Most, B Cause, and a gang of other d.j's......

"Freddie Foxx And Kool G.Rap Collabo" Part 2

Who could ever forget the first time "Freddie Foxx" and "Kool G.Rap" cliqued up and dropped, "Money In The Bank"? Pure Heat....One of "Freddie's" best verses if you ask me........But in 94 they collaborated again for "Cook A Nigga's Ass" { Funniest title in the history of music}.....Many of you have heard "G" spit this verse before, but fuck it, they still sound ill on the same track......Pow..

'I'm Styling On You" Part 2

Divine Styler was before his time....As a member of "Rhyme Syndicate", it was obvious "Divine" was one of the futuristic cats out of the crew.....He is a enigma, a dope M.C., and most of all a survivor.....Check urbnet.com for the best interview on "Divine", I have ever come across....100

"Wax Weapons 13" Push The Panic Button

Time for another installment in the "Wax Weapons" series.....And just like the rest, this is all instrumental blends....Off the top of the dome of course....Drasar Monumental in the drivers seat, strap on those helmets.....Pull your seat back, and prepare for collision....

"What's Up With Defari Herut"?

This is what's up with 'Defari', he got a new joint out called "Gamble On Ya Boy", from Madlib's new album....Looking forward to hearing a new "Likwit Junkies" album....Or even better yet a "Likwit Crew" album......That would be fresh....

"Drasar Beat Arsenal "

If you missed it the first time, here is your chance.....Download now or else....

"Paris Back On The Set"

Paris is about to drop a new album, just in time for the elections......You can check him out at guerilla funk.com....Which is a real informative site, with loads of music, politics, and all types of other shit.....

"When L.L. Was King"

The kids growing up today probably view "L.L." as a kind, gentle, father figure type of cat....But their was a time when L.L. was a swagged-out, braggadocio, b boy prodigy, that would take your ass out in a battle....Damn, times have changed...Every time I see "L.L." now, he is taking his shirt off and rubbing water all over his chest.......Here is a clip from when "L.L" still had something to prove to the Hip Hop world......

"True Life Hip Hop Stories", Mash Out Posse Edition...

It's 2003 {Sacramento California}, and tonight at the "Colonial Theatre" "Pitch Black", "Scratch {From The Roots}, Pharaoh Monch", and "M.O.P." are performing.......So I'm chilling with my dudes in the hospitality room, getting bent off of some brew when "M.O.P's" road manager step's to us......'What's up, these beers are "M.O.P's beer".......I reply, "oh word"....And glance at my dudes, and we slowly creep outta there...{not before grabbing a chocolate chip cookie to go}......Time to check out the show....."Pitch Black" did their thing........"Scratch" killed it...."Pharaoh" is the motherfuckin man live......."M.O.P." holy shit....One of the best performances I have ever seen in my life....Even though they scream like crazy, their enunciation is top notch.....You could hear every word, every rhyme crystal clear {hard to pull off live}.....I'm screaming at the top of my lungs, jumping up and down like I am at a "Bad Brains" concert.............As the night comes to a close, I spot a sweaty as fuck "Billy Danze" in the parking lot......I run up on him and say some shit like," You killed that shit G, keep it poppin".......He looks at me square in the eye and replies, "You god damn right, I'm not going back to selling crack to them kids"........I nodded my head and chuckled to myself as I stepped off in the opposite direction.........Shit is real...

"New Capone And Noreaga' Follow The Dollar

At first, I didn't know what to think of this "Alchemist" produced joint...But after listening to it a couple times, I gotta give it the thumbs up.....It's a total different sound for "Alchemist", it sounds like some "Afrika Islam" 2008 shit .....Even Nore sounds different on this {can barely tell it's him}.....Check in

"Capital Punishment Organization"

Yooo, this shit still bangs.....R.I.P "D.J. Train".

" Live At The Renaissance", Q-Tip Edition

I was real reluctant to listen to "Q-Tip's" new album......Those first 3 {ATCQ] albums had me in such a trance, I just wanted to remember them for the classics they are...But "Live At The Renaissance", is not a bad record....A little too much singing in my opinion, but other than that, it deserves a listen......Download below {Official}

'Hip Hop Battlefield's 200th Post"

Damn man, my little blog experiment hits 200 today....So I have to bless you with a heavy hitter in my crate arsenal....Ahhh, "The Alliance" , "K-Swift", "D.J. Skill", and "King Of Chill" {Leeches}... God damn, I love this joint......You can check "King Of Chill" on D.J. Premier's sirius radio show, every Friday night....100

" West Coast, Stand The Fuck Up "

Fuck what you heard, "Ras Kass" is one of the best to ever do it....If he never put out anything after "Nature Of The Threat", he still would get my vote for one of Cali's finest....I think his rhymes are above the audiences head, and that's one of the reasons he has not received the praise he deserves.....Another thing that has plagued his career is bad production choices...When he has the right beats underneath him {Soul On Ice rmx , Home Sweet Home} the results are ill......But even the illest lyrics in the world couldn't save some of the lackluster beats he tried to flip.......And can't help but wonder, would things be different if that "Golden State Warriors" shit came out.......Anyway, I am still checkin for you "Ras" {No-Homo}...

"It's A Cold World"

Buckwild's group, "Reservoir Dog's" {Featuring Royal Flush}, released a song in 2000 called, "Cold World".....I decided to remix it, and bug out with it a little bit......Add this one to your "Hip Hop Battlefield" stash cousin.....

"New D.J. Babuuuuuu"

I just listened to the "Duck Season 3" joint, and I was impressed...More than half of the album was poppin {rare nowadays}...Babu truly shows his range with this one....One of the best cuts is called, " East Coast, West Coast Connection" {Featuring A.G.}..Big up to Mad Planet for the lookout..

"The Best De La Soul Track Ever"

In my opinion this is the best "De La Soul" track to date....And the crazy thing is, they don't bust one rhyme through the whole shit...But when you are as creative as "De La", you can do whatever the fuck you want and still rock....It's called "Brain Washed Follower", produced by "Prince Paul".... { Yes, I got the record}....And you probably don't.....HaHa....

"Roc Raida On The Beat"

Yeah, I know foolio that it's not a picture of "Roc Raida"...{But read dudes shirt}.....Anyway, they don't call "Roc Raida", Grandmaster Roc Raida for nothing homepiss....A while back he released an album with "Wayne-O", that I don't hear many people talk about...This album was produced entirely by "Roc Raida", and he shows why d.j's make the funkiest beats.....I think "Wayne-O" used to be in a group called the "E-Brothers", who had a track on the "New Jersey Drive' soundtrack {Funky Piano, also produced by Roc Raida}......Peep

"Remix Your Face"

I have posted up a gang of remixes since I have started this blog, and don't trip fam, I have hundreds more.....This is a remix I did of a "Kev Brown" joint called "Life's A Gamble" {You damn right dun,dun}...And I must say, this is funky as fuck....

"And The Beat Goes On"

What up my people? I appreciate ya'll checking in to the blog, and to be honest I am just getting my feet wet....As time goes on this blog will only get more detailed, and more informative..To show my appreciation I am going to bless you with a freshly baked beat, cooked up by yours truly, "Drasar Monumental".....A.B.C.-Yaaaaaa

"Children Of The Corn Shit"

"Children Of The Corn", was a supergroup put together by the late, "Big L"....It's members included pre-holy ghost "Mase", "Camron", "Digga", "Bloodshed", and "McGruff"....This is a wild session from the "Stretch and Bobbito" show, where they totally wreck shit....R.I.P. "Bloodshed"

"Time To Check In" Jaz-O Edition

And to this day "Jaz-O", is nice on the microphone....It's a shame that him and "Jay Z' don't see eye to eye anymore...Could it be that it was all so simple back then?

"Biggie Smalls Unreleased Jewels"

This has been floating around cyber-space for a second....It's called "Biggie Got That Hype Shit'.and it is pre "Ready To Die" folks...This is a younger "Biggie", that still had a lot to prove at the time.....Classic shit.....Download below..R.I.P Christopher Wallace..

"It's On And Poppin 2 Night"

"New D.J. Premier And Big Shug'

"GrandMaster Caz And P.Lee" Mid Life Crisis

Check in....

Obama Drama"

Now that I got your attention, I gotta say this whole election shit is getting haywire...It seems as if America has to come to grips with it's racial problem, finally....."Pandora's Box" is fully open and all the bigotry, ignorance, and fear will be on full blast for the entire world to see, young and old...If you think because we have a black presidential candidate it's all good in the U.S., you are a god damn fool....

"Method Man Redman Tour"

"Redman and Method Man" with special guest "Termanology "will be on the west coast soon.....November 5th they will be in Seattle at the Showbox...November 6th Arcata, Ca at Humboldt State University...And on the 7th of November they will be in S.F. at the Grand Ballroom...Even though I was appalled by their deoderant commercials and the horribly unfunny sitcom on Fox, I will still most likely check in on one of these shows....

"Time To Get Dirty"

It's good to see "Sean Price" get his shine lately...Your boy is putting in a lot of work.. From cameos, to tours, to his recent release with longtime partner "Rockness Monster" {D.I.R.T.}....All eyes are back on the "Duck Down" dudes.....This cut is called "WMD" {produced by M Phazes}.....100

"That New Shit Dunn"

This is from that "Product Of The 80'" album...It's called "P Keeps Spittin" {produced by Sid Roams}....Go cop that album..Free P..

"R.I.P. Rudy Ray Moore"

Rudy Ray Moore passed away on Friday, due to complications from diabetes....Damn...The man many know as "Dolemite", has had a profound impact on the Hip Hop generation....In fact he collaborated with many Hip Hop artist ,Snoop Dogg, 2 Live Crew, and who can forget his playing the dozens session with "Big Daddy Kane"......If it wasn't for dudes like Rudy, N.W.A. ,Too Short, etc, would of had a harder road to climb on their way to success........Rudy's performances were as raw as they come...If you thought Richard Pryor was wild, Rudy was the equivalent of 10 Richard Pryor's { as far as raunchiness is concerned}...
R.I.P. Rudy Ray Moore....."Disco Godfather", is still one of my favorite movies...

"Sticky Fingers, Jackin 4 Beats"

Let me say this before I even get started...Almost every beat Sticky jacks on this cut I personally hate..But it's Sticky's personality and approach {No Homo} that I check for...His performance on this make me laugh as much now, as I did when I first heard it 10 years ago...Not to many mc's sound this reckless and convincing on the mic...Sticky is truly in a class by himself, then and now...Also go out and buy that "Onyx-Cold Case" shit people.....R.I.P. Big DS, X-1, JMJ....

"Jus Allah and Vinnie Paz Back Together Again"

It seems like as soon as Jus Allah left "JMT", they blew up...Strange, because with Jus in the fold, the group sounds more well rounded in my opinion..JMT has changed a lot since their first album, but on every album I hear some shit that is fly... And Stoupe's beats are usually impressive...The new album is called "History Of Violence" due out 10/14/08....This song "Monolith" is the leak from that album...Following that is "Gengis Khan" {Feat. Tragedy}, one of my favorite JMT joints..

"Lil Dap On Production"

Lately I have been listening to a lot of "Group Home" shit....Everyone knows their first joint is a classic, but the second album "Tear From The Ghetto" bangs pretty hard as well....In fact one of the best beats on that album was done by "Lil Dap" himself..Check it out, it's called "Politic All Night"...
Above pic of Jeru and Lil Dap....Yeah, it's not Group Home, but a dope pic regardless....Out

"Mighty 4 In Full Effect"

It's official, "Mighty 4" is Saturday at the Cow Palace, San Francisco.......It's going to be some wild ass shit...Afterparties, beat battles, rap battles, b boy shit.......Shout out to Cold Chris, Foots, Sha, Fooders, Riff, Mannie, Ground Level, Refa, Kufu, Planet, DazeRock etc..Looking forward to seeing ya'll cats...Don't miss this event people.

"Wax Weapons 12, Vocal Version"

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you/ without a hard blog to step to...HaHa..Anyway brothers and sisters, this is the first "Wax Weapons" to actually have vocals.....Usually I just let the instrumentals rock, but for this edition I will bless you with some lyrics homeslice...All wax, all one track, all freestyle, all blended by Mr. Drasar Monumental....Thank you, thank you....P.S. After this one, there will be no more lyrics on "Wax Weapons" for a long time....P.P.S. All of these songs range from 1994-2008...
Get your god damn mind right, and prepare for your flight....

"Remix Uppercuts"

Kool. G Rap's "On The Run Untouchable Remix", is one of the best remixes I have ever heard......Even though the sample isn't flipped that much, it doesn't matter because it is perfect already....But the strangest thing about this remix is that the "Trackmasters" did it...This is no diss to them, I am just really suprised they could get this filthy.....I did my own little remix, peep it out....And the following flip is a "Firewater" remix I added for the hell of it........100

"Live As It Gets"

The Opus consist of "Mr Echoes" and "The Isle Of Weight"....Many heads are aware of them due to their steller production for "Rubberroom"....As a unit they released four 12 inch singles, an e.p., an a album "Archtechnology"....One of my personal favorites when it comes to Windy City Hip Hop......It had a hard metallic, grimey sound that was truly original......
On this joint right here "Live", {Feat.Lumba} you can tell these brothers are not playing any games......Download now..

"The Most Chill"

"Phil The Soulman", has been putting in crazy work since the 80's....He is a worldwide respected producer, record collector, d.j. and Hip Hop aficionado.....You can check for him on the "Deep Crates" D.V.D., on his blog that real schitt.blogspot.com, or on this blog.....That's right folks, he has agreed to a interview with your's truly so look for that soon....In the meantime check out this mixtape he put together a while back....Classic material people......

"Criminal Scientifik Tribute"

It has been 10 long years since Criminal Scientifik passed away...His death remains a mystery to this day..I have heard several different stories, but since I wasn't there I refuse to speculate and front like I know what truly happened to this gifted lyricist.....His music has been re released in the last couple years, and it is obvious that he was headed for big things....R.I.P. Scientifik.....This is a remix I did {I Don't Need Ya} flipping his vocals.........Peace

" The Windy City"

My trip to Chicago was lovely to say the least......Hooked up with the original "Mattlock" and my dude "Selfish", and hit up a crazy amount of record shops...........1. "Grammaphone Records"....Had a lot of joints from many genres....2..."Reckless Records" {Wicker Park}...Located in a interesting area, reminded me of Berkley, Cali...Mad punk rock records, and rare groove type shit.....3.."Dusty Groove".....Now this is more like it...Beat diggers delight....Everything organized really well, helpful staff....Thumbs up......4..."Secret Record" store deep in the west side.......I can't tell you the name of this spot, they are holding too much ill shit..Alchemist was their earlier this year, and word is he paid the owners to shut down the store for the evening when he came through.......The illest record store I have been to in a while.....More like a warehouse....Helpful staff, knowledgable staff, my kinda spot........I hit a couple other spots and did a crazy amount of shit in a short period of time......Shout out to my girl's fam out there, Mattlock and his peoples, Chachi {Humboldt Park stand up}, Selfish, Big Neal, Cashis D, and everybody else.........
This scorcher was produced by Chicago's "P Lee", and blessed by the legendary "Jamalski".....Dope..

"Chi-Town's Finest, Akbar"

When I first heard Akbar's verse on Jamalski's album "Roughneck Reality", it blew my head off...Akbar sounded like a b boy maniac on a mission..Over a ill beat by "D.J. P. Lee, {Rasco and Artifacts flipped the same break later} he persisted to drop angry punchlines, unpredictable flows, and a massive persona....This song sounds just as good today as it did back then.....Currently P.Lee is working with "Grand Master Caz", and Akbar is still doing his thing as well.....Salute to the "Mental Giants", for providing that raw shit.....

"Over Looked Producer Edition, Fat Jon"

In today's Hip Hop climate it is hard as fuck to get props for your beats........1. Everybody and their mother think they can make Hip Hop beats.....2.The music industry is so corrupt, dudes cant get paid a descent buck for their productions....3..The audience these days don't have a clue about what true funky shit is......4..Most people are like lost sheep, that gravitate towards music that they are programmed to appreciate...............But Fat Jon has consistently put out quality material......His work with 5Deez is amazing, along with his many other side projects...........This joint is from his collabo album with "J Rawls"........3652...Enjoy

"45 King Shit"

Anytime a D.J. throws on "900 Number", the crowd goes crazy...............There is something about the way 45 King flips beats that makes him standout........Even though he is a well respected producer, he never played himself in order to gain mass appeal.........This cut is from the "Universal Beat Generation" series........White label shit fool.......

"Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Soldier Field"

Yeah mayne, I'm off to Chicago for a week........The illest pizza, dope record shops, the super bowl shuffle.......I'm looking forward to a great time........I will be checkin in with a couple cool cats...Shout out to my Chicago diggin twin,"Mattlock".Respect to "Lord Cashis D", and "Selfish"......See ya'll in a minute............In the meantime, check in at funkwhatyaheard.blogspot.com My mayne is seriously holdin it down over there........Also, big up to my dude "Big Danz" in Chico.......You always check in....Thank you fam.......................Here is a mix tape by 1st Class............See u in a week, prepare for the avalanche when I get back.....

"Trunks And M.F. Doom, Are Unicron"

Trunks first appeared on the "King Gheodrah" album.........This is from his new E.P. produced entirely by M.F. Doom himself.. Check in and peep the flavor....

'New People Under The Stairs"

People Under The Stairs just released their 6th album, "Fun-D.M.C.".................I have been checkin for them for a minute, and I must say, dudes have some beats......In the rhyme department, they aren't the illest mc's I have heard by far......But their b-boy approach makes them a crew to watch....Enjoy...
