"Blaq Poet And Hot Day"

The reason why 'Blaq Poet" is so fresh, is because he stuck to the script........His sound was grimey as fuck in 1988, and it's even more grimey in 2008.......His album with "D.J. Hotday" {Without Warning}, still rings bells.........This song is called "Night To Remember" from that album..............Download below........

" Do The Knowledge "

Black Dot should be president of the United States......Fuck jive ass Mccain, forget about Kanye endorsed Obama, Cynthia is cool with me and all that.......But I wish Black Dot would get into politics.....HaHa...........By the way ,what's up with those Obama is my slave t-shirts? Are you fuckin crazy?.............Check out this Black Dot footage...

"Jeru Still Rockin"

Ever since Jeru parted ways with Preemo, people don't talk about him as much.....But he has released 3 albums since, "Heroes 4 Hire", "Divine Design", and this year's "Still Rising".......On every one of these albums Jeru drops heavy jewels....This track is off his latest album and it's entitled "Airplay"......Peep.....

"Golden Era Terrorizer"

The Lo-Lifes are a infamous crew of boosters that terrorized New York in the 80's and early 90's.......Bonded by a fetish for polo gear, many Lo-Life members also repped on the mic.....Thirstin Howl 3rd, Boostin Kev, Mayhem Lauren, etc..........Rack Lo has also been getting busy as of late.............Here's a clip of him destroying an old Lord Finesse track, it's called "Strictly For The 80's"...............2 L's up

" Little Vic and Kool G.Rap "

Straight out of Long Island comes "Little Vic".......The first time I heard of this cat was the "Exorcist" single produced by D.J. Premier......On this song "Caked Up", he enlist the help of one of the illest to ever do it, Kool G.Rap.......It came out a couple months back on Orena Records.....

" Sucka Of The Week ", Rick Ross

"Too many suckas not enough time/ to buck em all down with a clip from my nine'.......{ Mad Lion, Take It Easy ]................By now you have heard that your boy "Rick Ross", was a one time correctional officer...........It wouldn't be a big deal if he didn't parade around like the biggest crime boss the world has ever seen.........This dude even had the nerve to lie about it once the pictures surfaced last week............The real "Freeway Ricky Ross", poisoned our communities with crack heavy in the 80's, why would you want to take on that name? You know why, because your a sucka.....

" Dr.Who Dat "

When I bought "Dr.Who Dat's" new album a couple months back, I didn't know what to expect.......And after checking it out, I am kinda clueless.....I can hear flashes of brilliance, Jay D vibes, lackadaisical rhyme schemes, and other shit I can't quite explain.....The song I posted " N.A.S.A.", has a very addictive groove that will linger in your head after the song is finished........But I have to say it does sound a lot like Slum Village.......What do ya'll think?

"Afrika Bambaataa, The True Blueprint "

Sometimes I feel like it's the 80's all over again.....All this retro bullshit...Fools rocking "Members Only" jackets, tight jeans rolled up on the bottom, fake gold ropes, sweaty coke heads, and the strangest of them all........The resurgence of gangbanging...........Don't get the wrong impression, we all know it never totally disapeared............I was born and bred in California, where gangbanging is woven deep into the fabric of many communities................But didn't we learn the lessons of the 80's? Everyone trying to act all tough and bad until your ass get's thrown in prison.........Everyone trying to flag, and mean mug until someone gets shot and killed over trivial bullshit........This is your life, this isn't some Hip Hop video shit.............Afrika Bambaattaa laid the blueprint down people..He showed us a different way..........Use that gangbanging energy and turn it into something creative, something productive......... I love certain aspects of the 80's like everyone else, but we also have to warn these kids about the other side of the 80's........Peace..

" Slang Don "

Cappadonna was always flavorful with his slang.....Anyone remember " Slang Editorial "?.........On his new album "The Cappatilize Project " Cappa let's loose with some 2008 updated slang shit........This song is called "Peace God", featuring Born Devine.....And Sosa is on the beat.........

" King Status "

It's official family........"King Shameek", has blessed us with his presence on Hip Hop Battlefield............Now I know that my blog experiment is not in vain........I don't do this for a pat on the back, I don't do this for cake, I don't do this for a date, I don't do this to kick up dust.......I do this because I am a Hip Hop student, and I am merely sharing my studies with ya'll.................Back in the day M.T.V. would play a song like "Be Black' {produced by King Shameek}.....Now they wouldn't dare play anything remotely close to this song.......So it's my duty to play my part and expose quality Hip Hop in order to create alternatives........Big up King Shameek....Your music had a profound effect on me ..............Big up King Sun, 'Be Black" is still classic material..

" Wax Weapons 5 "

Another installment of "Wax Weapons" is here my people.............All instrumental, all off the dome, all wax, all spicy..........No theme this time around........30 minutes of pure violence......Download now or else.............Blended by yours truly......100

" The Illest Female M.C. "

Say it with me folks.....Antoinette, Antoinette, yeah fool Antoinette.............No woman has ever sounded so convincing on the mic.....She sounds like she is on the warpath, and will slay anyone in her way { Male/Female }.........When this first came out, It used to make my blood boil.........Antoinette is murdering this track "Who' the Boss", and even had a feud with 'M.C. Lyte"......But in my opinion Antoinette bodied every female ever, with just this one song..........Her albums weren't the illest, but this one song smashes everything..................And she looked spicy.......Salute.......And yes I have the record....

" Game's Cousin Responds "

This is some ol'e family drama right here......I will refrain from cracking jokes, because somebody did end up losing their life.........But interesting nevertheless.....

" Remix Slap Ups "

" Sucka Of The Week " Felli Fell

Remember back in the day when "M.C. Hammer", had a K.F.C. commercial and he was dancing like some type of idiot for a nice 2 piece?.....That shit had me spazzing out back then......Now in 2008 we have L.A.'s Power 106 D.J. "Felli Fell", scratching for McDonalds......Some fools will say," Your a hater, atleast he is getting his papers"......How low will dudes go to get a little cake?..........And if your going to play yourself for McDonalds, atleast bust some halfway descent scratches......Dude is busting some ol'e Eric B cuts.. ........We are in Cali man, Q-Bert and all them other dudes raised the bar a decade ago.......Why are you cutting like a god damn sucka?

" Slum Village Alumni "

I can't even front, I wasn't really feeling " Elzhi " all that much until I heard this song.....Damn, his word play and concepts really work on this joint.....It's called " Save Ya ", and it's produced by another Slum Village Alumni , "T3".........This beat is smoother than a motherfucker......Download below...

Friday, July 18, 2008

" G.Z.A. Disses 50 Cent "

Don't you just love diss records?......Break Of Dawn, No Vaseline, Bridge is Over, Hit Em Up, and now "Paper Plates"...........G.Z.A. is throwing some darts at 50 Cent and it's kinda funny..........Come on, 50 is in deep trouble. Now he is getting kicked while he is down.........Check this shit out....HaHa

' Wreck Shop "

Reks sounds like he has something to prove on this monster single....."Say Goodnight", is produced by D.J. Premier and it's from Reks's new album " Grey Hairs "......I have been bangin this heavy....Cop doubles...

" Get Well D.M.C. "

D.M.C. underwent surgery today to remove 2 blood clots in his arm...........I hope all is well, we lost J.M.J. already......Can't afford to lose any more pioneers............Get well soon "King of Rock"...

Thursday, July 17, 2008

"Wax Weapons 4" , Pete Rock Edition..

"Wax Weapon 4" live from Vietnam, California .................This mix is all instrumental Pete Rock bangers..........Some new, some older, but all of the beats have that Pete Rock soul power in them........I didn't include my favorite Pete Rock beat of all time, the "Shut Em' Down rmx"........Maybe next time.....Until then, peep this freestyle mix.....

"Afrika Bambaataa "

This is a ill video called 'Africa Shox", by a group called "Leftfield" {feat. Afrika Bambaataa}.........Check it out......

" Golden State Warrior "

The first time I met Saafir he was suprised how much of his music I was familiar with........We talked for hours about the current state of Hip Hop, his old crew {Hobo Junction}, Dream One, and all types of other shit...........At the time he was finishing the touches on one of his newest releases, {The Transition} ABB records..........He was in good spirits, and you could tell that Hip Hop is a major part of his life..........Here is some footage of him rocking dolo in 1995.........Anybody remember that Hiero-Hobo Junction battle..........Classic shit.....

" Psycho Nuts "

Psycho Les released, "Psycho Therapy" earlier this year........Damn, he still is banging out some grimey ass beats........These are my 2 favorite off the album...Cop it...

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

" New Vast Aire "

This is a new Vast Aire joint called "T.V Land".......It's produced by Melodious Monk and it is very flavorful.......Big up 2 my dude Big Danz in Chico......

" One Of Canada's Illest "

Maestro Fresh Wes is ill.......As a Hip Hop artist from Canada it is hard to break into the U.S. market.....Few have done it A-Trak, Obscure Disorder, Raskalz, Checkmate, Kardinall Official, etc........But Wes was the first to breakthrough in 1988.......He was even an extended member of DITC, and was blessed with some dope beats from Showbiz..........Salute to you Wes, for being the first M.C. I have ever seen wreck a mic wearing a tuxedo..........

" Kankick "

Kankick was an original member of the "Loot Pack"...But before they got signed he left and formed his own crew " Funk Farm", with D.J. Babu and God's Gift......This song, "Daddy Long Loops" is from his Acid Massive Musical album released on Up Above records...........Funky......

" Check The Tech "

Tired of cornball rap mags that are as entertaining as a Bone Thugs N Harmony reunion? Getting bored of "Hip Hop sites" that are more concerned with advertising than interesting content?.........Sick of lame blogs that rarely update, but when they do the music they upload is usually some ol'e bullshit......Ahhhhh..........Go grab a book to read stupid.........This book " Check The Technique" { Brian Coleman } should hold your attention.......It's an expanded version of his other book " Rakim Told Me"......He interviews 2 Live Crew, M.O.P., De La, Mobb Deep, UltraMag, Ice-T, and many others.....But what's so fly about it, is that it's all based around album studio sessions.......Kool Keith talks about Ultra's mind frame during "Critical Beatdown's"recording....Fredro Star reminisces about the first time he played demos for J.M.J..........Poor Righteous Teachers reveal why they beat up on Tony D..........There are a lot of interesting stories captured in this book...Check for it....

" Big Hutch Is A Free Man "

Big Hutch from " Above The Law ", was released from prison recently after serving a 2 year stint for conspiracy to traffic 1000 pounds of marijuana................I am looking forward to hearing new music from him.....Above The Law were true west coast originals.........The first 2 albums they put out are bonafied classics in my opinion....They changed the way people made records, {point blank}....Producers started using more live instrumentation, everyone started saying "balling", etc..........Big Hutch's uncle "Willie Hutch", did the soundtrack for the "Mack", and even recorded for Motown for a period..........So Big Huch has the funk in his genes..................If you look closely at the clip below, you can spot "D.J. Train" R.I.P. in the beginning of the video.....

" RZA's Brother, 9th Prince "

9th Prince used to be in a group called "KillArmy". Since the group has disbanded he has released 2 albums, " Grandaddy Flow " {2003} and "Prince Of N.Y." {2008}.......9th is currently incarcerated and is due out sometime soon......The song I am posting up is called " Sniper Challengers ", released March 4 of this year..........It's produced by a cat named Monster.......Peep..

' Philly Hardcore "

I have a soft spot for Philly Hip Hop.......Schoolly D, 3XDope, Tuff Crew, Freshco and Miz, Steady B, Cash Money and Marvelous Marv, and so many others put the smash down......Tuff Crew is one of my favorites, that rarely get talked about.......L.A. Kid, Ice Dog, Tone Love, Monty G, D.J. 2 Tuff put out 4 albums............The song I posted is called "Let it Rip" it came out in 1988, and it is a accurate recording of my favorite era in Hip Hop......"The Hardrock Era"......Loud drums, heavy scratching, yelling on the mic, synchronized crew chants, and plenty of bass.....Those were the days...........Tuff Crew had a reunion in Philly last year, and I would love to hear what they sound like now........

' Sucka Of The Week, " The Game....

Instead of dissing motherfuckers all the time, I like to big up the music I do like and appreciate......Anyone can gossip and talk reckless about people........Anyone.......That's why only once a week do I call someone out and pop blogshots at them......This week is a easy target for sure......Drumroll please........Mr. Butterfly Tatoo, Sir Change of Heart, M.C. Name Dropper, I'm talking about Game folks.....Oh, I mean The Game.....HaHa.......What a fuckin cry baby.....Wimpering about how he is a misplaced Hip Hoppper born in the wrong era......Get the fuck outta here......Crocodile tears, falling from someone who is helping fuck shit up......I don't buy it........Check 4 yourself below, and get your tissues ready............

" Insight "

Boston's Insight, has slowly built up a quality catalogue of fresh material.......He has produced for Mr Lif, Opio, Damu, Dagha, T Rukus, and many more.....The first time I heard his music was the 'Scum Live' 12 inch { above pic }.....If you do not have that record, I suggest you find it fast.......Anyway, in the beginning of 08 he released a new album with Damu entitled "Y Society'..........The song I posted up is called "Off and On"......... I forgot to mention he makes his own beats, rhymes, mixes, and engineers all of his own shit?...........Peep

" Won't Give A Fuck "

Something about this record "Ruthless Villain", makes me want to drop kick somebody.......The energy off this record is out of control.......Even though this is Eazy E's record, M.C Ren handles the bulk of the rhymes.........Handle isn't a accurate description, how about dismantles the rhymes........Few mc's can sound this menacing, funky, and flavorful at the same time.............The production by Dr.Dre has managed to age very well........Angry breaks, give way to interesting changes and turns.......Intricate drum composition, punctuated with heavy bass stabs.......Dope..........Rest In Peace, Eric {Eazy E} Wright........Your sense of humor, changed my life...........

"Critical Beatdowns"

When it comes to Hip Hop journalism, the majority of fools approach it like the associated press...Who, what, when, why, how?.........That format is very corny, and sterile when it comes to getting critical, investigative information..........Hip Hop journalism {in my opinion} is at it's best when the actual participants {artist} give their point of view..........That's why this book "Making Beats", is a keeper.......The writer { Joseph Schloss} hits up various producers Vitamin D, Jake One, Supreme, Soulman, Specs, Kool Akiem, etc, with descent questions and allows them to speak their minds freely..............The only problem I have with the book is that he focuses mainly on Pacific north western producers...........If he would have interviewed a wider spectrum of producers, the book would have a better balance....................Check 4 it......5000

"Truth Be Told"

Black Dot is no joke......I appreciate how he expresses his views....He doesn't speak over your head with a bunch of unneccesary big words, but he doesn't dumb down his word play either.........In the Hip Hop world today he is a minority, someone who speaks the truth with no apologies........Cop his book "Hip Hop Decoded", or one of his many d.v.d. lectures.........You Tube clip below.....Out.....

"Wax Weapons 3"

Wax Weapons 3 is a little different this week..Every single beat is a "D.J. Premier" production.....Damn, Preemo has released some bombs over the years......I could of easily made this longer, but this is Wax Weapons.....30 min sessions.......Download A.S.A.P................Mixed by yours truly....100

"Beef Rap" Remix Edition

In 1999" L.P." {Not Co-Flow L.P.} released a diss record called the "Truth"......He calls out everyone who was popular at the time Snoop, Foxy Brown. DMX, Coolio, Onyx, Camron, etc......The original was produced by "King Shameek", of "Hollywood Impact/Twin Hype" fame.........I decided to remix it and give it my own dusty twist............I wonder whatever happened to this dude?

Likwit Crew General

When it comes to west coast Hip Hop , you can't mention Compton without saying King T.......His work with legendary D.J. Pooh, set a new standard on the west.....From 'Act A Fool" , to "At Your Own Risk", to "The Triflin Album", to his work with the "Liks", T always showed versatility over dope, sample heavy beats......He helped start the careers of the Liks, Xzibit, Madlib, Defari and even signed to "Aftermath' for a brief period.....I am still waiting for a 'Likwit Crew" album..........Below is a Marley Marl remix of "At your own risk".....Rap City used this as their intro piece back in the day.......Enjoy...........P.S. He also had a album entitled "Kingdom Come', before Mr. Sean Carter........

Show and A.G.

Showbiz is one of my favorite producers.....He was no slouch on the mic mechanism either.....Their new E.P. is full of fly joints..My favorite off of this E.P. is "Business As Usual".......D.J. Premier is on the cuts......Download below.........

4th Of July Fuckery

It's only right I post up Kam's "Holiday Madness".............This is a day we should all reflect on the lives of those who passed away fighting for freedom in babylon..........And we will continue to fight for our freedom as human beings until this system becomes humane................................................................................................................................................................................" Picture us cooling on the 4th of July/ And if you heard that we were celebrating that's a world wide lie" Flavor Flav {Louder Than A Bomb}

" Sucka Of The Week " Fonzworth Bentley

Viacom, M.T.V. and Jamie Foxx should be implicated in this as well......."G's to Gents", is a new reality show that attempts to turn "gangsters" into gentlemen.......And the gatekeeper to this gentlemen's club is Fonzworth Bentley, {P Diddy's ex-cornball assistant}........Some people might find this type of "entertainment" funny......I find it rather pathetic, and a sure sign that we have not officially hit rock bottom yet...................Time to form a 2008 "Drop Squad", and reprogram some of these suckazzzzzz

"Mostly The Voice"

Big Twinz has the dirtiest voice in Hip Hop......Hands down........He claims that he doesn't know how to read, and that his lawyers handle all that "paper work shit".........Sad...........Regardless, he still sounds ill as fuck over beats.....Here is a joint from his new album "The Grimey Collection".....Cop it..........

Industry of Imbeciles

Recently Serious Jones was dropped from "Disturbing The Peace"......It's another sad story of politics and bullshit....What more does a up and coming M.C. have to do?.....Serious slayed opponent, after opponent.....Wrote good songs.....And had the undergound on fire for a couple years....He seemed to be the perfect mix of 'true school" lyricism, with "new school" swag........What's the problem here?...........I see a trend occuring...."Raekwon" { Cuban Linx 2 } shelved..."Rakim" on Aftermath, shelved........"Saigon", on Atlantic shelved..........I could go on and on but I won't......Check the clip below and peep Serious in battle mode.............

"Styling On You".....S.F. Flashback

When I hear cats talking about the "old" Bay, these names always pop up......"415", "Totally Insane", "Cougnut", "R.B.L Posse', "The Click' and a gang of other dudes......But one name is seldomly mentioned ...."Paris". It's a shame because his body of work is amazing......The above picture is of "A.T.C"......Paris produced this joint in 1988, and it was ahead of it's time............I tried to find out more about A.T.C., but my attempts were futile....But Paris continues to drop heat....He did all of the production for one of P.E.'s newest offerings, and has a fresh website "Guerilla Funk.com"...........The name of this song is 'Time To Bill'........and yes, I own the record so quit acting dizzy......360

Wax Weapons 2

Another installment of Wax Weapons is on the set......All instrumental, all off the top of the dome, all flavorful.......Since I am dealing with wax, there is one needle skip in the beginning......Oh well.....Download this right now and bug out to these beats...100.........P.S. Live mix from my manz straight from Bronx New York, Dj Hektek up in a hot minute....

Remix Slap Down

What's up people.....I wanna thank everyone for checkin in....I'm doing my numbers on the downloads and I wanna say thanks.......Shit is about to get ill on this side of things.. ......Here is another remix attack......The first one is a Mobb Deep flip,"Killaz Theme".....Me and my dude Mondo did that........The following one is a "Ruthless Bastards" remix, that I did recently....
