" Industry Rule 4080 "

Since my father and his side of the family are from the Caribbean (Cayman Islands STAND UP), I was exposed to the sounds of Reggae at an early age....

Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Yellowman, and even these tiny kids from Europe, "Musical Youth" got much burn in my household.....What I loved about Musical Youth is that they were extremely talented, and their young minded approach appealed to me....

Here are a couple facts about Musical Youth that you might not know....

1..Their first album was nominated for a Grammy...

2..One of the first black acts on M.T.V...........I think they were the first actually..

3.."Pass The Dutchie" went all the way to number one on the U.K. charts, and went on to sell over four million copies....

It seemed like they just vanished after their first album....Although they recorded after that, collaborations with Donna Summer and Eddie Grant pretty much began a downward spiral for the group and they never fully recovered.....

A couple days ago I watched a show on TV-One (Unsung) that went into detail about the rise and fall of the group.......My suspicions were correct: Their record company straight took advantage of their age and JERKED them....

One of the members (the drummer Freddie Waite ) had a nervous breakdown, the bass player (Patrick Waite) died after suffering from years of poverty, drug abuse and neglect.....SAD.....

Eventually the remaining group members sued their record company and received over a million dollars in back pay, almost thirty years after the release of their debut album..........

Check out a sneak peek below..
