" Know Your History "
Since tomorrow is the beginning of Hip Hop history month, it's only right that I pull out the flame thrower and sizzle your dome off with some certified heat....
A couple years back, "Turntable Trixters- The Story Of D.J. Supreme & Hijack" hit the scene and it sparked a newfound interest in the influential South London crew.......Here are a couple facts about the group that you might not be aware of...
1...First rap group from Europe to have a major record deal in the States (Warner Brothers-Via Rhyme Syndicate)....
2..Hijack D.J.'s "Undercover & Supreme's" style of scratching had a direct influence on I.S.P. (Invisible Scratch Pickles)..
3..The frontman of the group "Kamanchi Sly" has a P.H.D.
4..After winning a local rap battle, Kamanchi Sly took the prize money and threw it into the crowd declaring " It's not about the money, it's about the art "...............Can you imagine that happening today ?
Label politricks prevented Hijack from receiving the Hip Hop accolades that they truly deserved in the U.S......Back then I was attracted to the group because of their wild imagery and hardrock demeanor.....They posed for pictures rocking ski-mask and karate outfits years before the Wu-Tang dropped......HAHA..
But they didn't rely on gimmicks, they actually had dope beats and you could hear the venom in Kamanchi's voice when he would spit......Unfortunately Hijack disbanded in the early 90's and it doesn't look like their will be a reunion tour anytime soon (Supreme hasn't talked to the other members of the crew since the break up)...
If your a fan of hardcore Hip Hop, or if you just appreciate well put together documentaries: you should spend the next two hours watching this........Appearances by DJ Babu, Q-Bert, Donald D. Ice-T, Afrika Islam, Ice Pick, Blade, Undercover, and of course tons of old Hijack concert footage that will definitely put you in a trance.....
Salute to Supreme & Hijack for bringing their brand of hardcore to the table......Hip Hop Battlefield gives this D.V.D. TWO THUMBS UP.
Enjoy-

" Attack Of The Killer Demos, Part 6 "
Before they were Mobb Deep, the duo were known as "Poetical Prophets".......They released an album entitled Juvenile Hell and it featured production from heavyweights such as Large Pro, Preemo, etc......
Many people sleep on this album, but "Hit It from The Back", "Flavors For The Non-Believers", "Cop Hell", and "Peer Pressure" were bonafied head-nodders...
Here are several demos from the mob before the release of the classic "Infamous" album........If you appreciate that raw shit as much as HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD, than you already know what to do..........CHECK IN !!!

" Fahrenheit 916 "
" Joints Of The Day "
When it comes to library records, I haven't had much luck....Every once in awhile I will come across one that blows my mind, but for the most part I have wasted a pretty penny trying to track down decent library joints...
I recently stumbled on this fresh library record on the net by Brian Hodgson & Delia Derbyshire (1972).....This is just crazy and perfectly arranged for flipping (If you catch my drift)....

" 5 Tuesday Sure Shots "
I want to give a big shout out to my dude "Dyno" for coming correct on the AF1 jamboree......Now it's time to splash ya'll with some certified burners on this Tuesday evening.....
Walk with me famo-
1..D.J. Wich & Rasco- "Now Who's Laughing"
Rasco's new album "Al Capone's Vault" definitely had it's moments and this is one of them.......Scratch chorus, cracking drums, and disgruntled lyrics make me give this joint the thumbs up.....
2..Mayhem Lauren & Fi-Lo- "Barbarian Blast Off"
This hostile cut was featured on the "Clarified Butter" mixtape.........Turn the volume up to ten and get ready for gully pandemonium.......
DOWNLOAD
3..Celph Titled & Buckwild (Featuring Vinny Paz)- "Eraserheads"
God damn, I wish there was more Hip Hop out there that sounded this ugly........Sinister production, gun talk, and insane scratch sentences by Mista Sinister..........If you play this loud at night on the boulevard, I can promise interesting results....
4..Celph Titled & Buckwild- "Wack Juice"
HAHAHAHAHAHAH......
5..M.F. Grimm & B1- "Emotions"
With lyrics like this, " Rappers think they all that, and want to go to war / fuck him, his crew, and everything they stand for " how can you really go wrong.....
The quotable factor is really high on this joint........

" Daily Diggers vs. Hip Hop Battlefield- AF1 Kick Off "
Before I even get started, I have to give major daps to my GBK/NS posse for always keeping it extra gully when it comes to their shoe game.....Planet, Rashad, Sha, Jewelz, & Fooders always kept me on my toes....Nuff respect..
Now that I got that out of way- let's get down to business...
When it comes to AF1's, I'm in my own zone......Some dudes love white on whites (I know they are classic and all that, but I can't fuck with them).......Some dudes check for rainbow colors, and all types of crazy combinations....Me, I try to keep it simple...
I never claimed to be like one of these corny so-called "AF1 aficionados" who think they know everything....I'm just a B-Boy that knows what he likes........So strap on your helmet, grab some popcorn, and brace yourself for five rounds of headbangers....
1.."Olive Wreck"......
HAHAHAHA........Yes indeed.......Olive, with a nice grey color combination..... Can't forget the olive sole.....These are just out of control.....PERIOD......
Whenever I wear these scorchers, I can tell that fools are ready to push the panic button......
2.."Red & Black Pressure".......
Classic Jordan color scheme..........I copped these on one of my annual visits to see my family in the Cayman Islands (Georgetown Stand Up)..........WHEW....Never wore these, but I know when I do, it's curtains.....
3.."True Blue"
Simple blue pressure with a hint of grey.......Ill clear soles make this AF1 one of my personal favorites......I have never seen anyone with a pair of these joints anywhere.......Can you say fresh ?
4..."Maroon Monsters"
Why do I call these maroon monsters ? Because whenever I decide to rock these, cats on the avenue are going to run for their lives....HAHAHAHAH.........These are actually a AF1/ Air Max hybrid that belong in a museum instead of my closet.......
NASTY !!!!!
5.."Camo Wreck".
Peep these digital camouflage, steel toe burners........You rock these when the mosh pit gets a little too rowdy, and you want to make your presence felt in the worst way....HAHAHA.......Yeah famz, steel toe joints.......
Instead of rocking Timbo's you can wear these and still hold the fort down........I have never worn these, but when I do it's LIGHTS OUT ON THE BLOCK......
So that pretty much wraps it up........Big shout out to my ace, Kid Dyno from Daily Diggers for helping make this happen on a moments notice (I know for a fact your going to come with some official heat).........Head over to his spot to see how he gets down for his....
PEEP
" Kufu One Drops Jewels "
My Z brother Kufu One never ceases to amaze me.......While many graffiti artist are fully disconnected from Hip Hop, Kufu is a full fledged Hip Hop student, community organizer, youth counselor, and an all around stand up dude......
He recently hit me off with this link of him dropping serious jewelry on Berkley's K.P.F.A. radio......Take a listen, you might just learn something fam.....
Peace to the whole crew out there in East Oakland......
TAKE A LISTEN.....

" Roddy Rod On The Beats "
Former Maspyke producer "Roddy Rod", is no slouch when it comes to assembling flavorful beats......Now as a member of the Low Budget Crew (Kev Brown, Oddisee, Kenn Star, Cy Young, Taimbr, Quartermaine, etc) I'm quite sure he will continue to deliver the goods...
Take a listen to this re-release of Oakwood Grain (Jazzy Sport Records Japan).....
HERE.....
" D.J. Akakabe Wreck "
I always wondered why Akakabe didn't receive the proper recognition that he deserved in States.....His scratches were quick and on-point, transitions were ill, and his beat juggling patterns made my jaw drop when I first heard them on the 1997 DMC's.....
SALUTE.....
In 2004 he finally won the DMC world championship and took the belt to Japan.....
Peep this footage of him at Club Bon Bon 06/ 22/ 06

" Killer Ben A.K.A. Ben Buford- Repost "
" Ben Buford " is one of the nastiest M.C' s on the west side of things....The first joint I heard from him was the "Exercise/Hitman 4 Hire" 12 inch which features menacing production from L.A's own , "Truly Odd"...As far as west coast hardcore Hip Hop goes, this was a criminally slept on release....( Gun clap rap at it's dirtiest )
In 2003 they teamed up again for " Emcee Killer " , it's the type of joint that makes the perpetrators hit the panic button....You can hear it on " D.J. Chorizo Funk's " mixtape (Which is very flavorful).....
Here is the playlist..

" Daily Diggers vs. Hip Hop Battlefield AF1 Kick Off "
Troop's, Fila, New Balance, Lotto's, Elleese, BK's, Clark's, Diadora, Le Coq Sportif, Timbo's, Reebok Pump's, Sacony's, Adidas, Pumas, and of course a crisp pair of Nike's.....
I come from an era where if your shoes were busted than you had NO wins.......I can remember trying to go against the grain and decided to show up at the cypher with a pair of "Vans" just for the hell of it........
WHEW.......Before I even got a word out of my mouth, I became the laughing stock of the area....HAHAHAHA....1989 was no joke....
From that day on I vowed to get revenge on all those fools who tried to clown, and spent a tremendous amount of time, cheese, and energy assembling a stockpile of kicks so ill that whenever I would pop up on the set-- suckers would get the trembles.....
Fast forward to 2010: One of the sites that I check for on the regular is "Daily Diggers".....It's ran by an interesting cat by the name of Kid Dyno (London).......What I like about his site is that you can tell that he is a authentic Hip Hop head.......Instead of following trends and being over eager to post up ANYTHING, he subscribes to the quality over quantity ethic (Like myself)......
So it's only fitting that two like-minded individuals decided to clique up and get busy............This Monday we are going head to head in our first official AF1 Kick-Off..........His best five, against my best five.......No corny bullshit-just fresh color schemes, explosive heat, and all that other fly shit.......
It's going to be a doozy, so don't get caught sleeping on Monday morning troop.........

O.K. folks it's about that time again.......
You know what I'm talking about.....Another remix rocket from the captain of this Battlefield battleship homeboy.....I decided to give ya'll a healthy dose of bass, snapping drums, and that extra special spice that is bound to raise your blood pressure levels...
The original version of Out The Box (produced by Pete Rock)-featured Tony Touch, Large Pro, Masta Ace, and P.R. on the vocals...
So turn your speakers to level ten, take a deep breath, and brace yourself for collision.....POW,POW....
All beats wrecked, sliced, flipped, mangled, chopped, manhandled, and stretched out by ME !!!!!!!!!
" Joint Of The Day- Rain Blood Edition "
When I first heard this song I almost started flipping out on everybody.....
"Rain Blood" features underrated Megalon on the mic totally smashing everything into shreds.......Not many M.C's can ride a beat that sounds this chaotic....
This is the type of shit I can listen to on repeat all day with the greatest of ease......Produced by MF Doom...
And while your at it, scope out this rare interview with Megalon with U.Grap.De........

" Sir Jinx Speaks "
There was a period where it seemed as if Ice Cube's "Lynch Mob" crew were poised to take shit completely over.....Kam, WC & Madd Circle, Jay-Dee, Shorty, Yo-Yo, & Sir Jinx's production style were very influential.....
In my opinion one of Jinx's brightest moments, was when he contributed production for G.Rap's "Live & Let Die" album.......His sound was a mixture of Bomb Squad-esque layering, live instrumentation, and funky, well placed creative sampling techniques...
Go back and listen to that album again....You won't be disappointed,it has managed to age very well.....
Hip Hop Dx recently caught up with Jinx to discuss: G.Rap, L.A. Riots, Tupac, and his current alias Tony Villa....HAHA..
Interesting read...

And just to keep you on your toes.....Here are a couple cuts by Jinx's first crew "C.I.A." which included K-Dee & Ice Cube......
