" Godfather Don Shots "

I read somewhere that Godfather Don is currently in a Jazz band in Brooklyn and that he has no plans on returning to the Hip Hop world....

That's a damn shame...

Can you imagine what he would sound like in 2011 with all the talent he possessed ?

Peep this Godfather Don mix by a cat named S-Rock if your in the mood for a dose of hardcore ammo.....Over 45 minutes of heavy drums, insane rhyme patterns, BK attitude, etc...

A couple transitions are a little rushed, but this still deserves a listen....

Tracklist:

-insane
-lex lugor
-rabbit stew remix (feat raw breed)
-losers
-style by the gram
-seed of hate
-mc assault
-you know the name (feat hostyle)
-diabolique
-hellofasong
-burn
-fondle em fossils
-life ain't the same

I guess that some grown ass man state of mind, i can feel the vibe a man's on when he decide to take such a turn in his career… pretty honorable actually… that reminds me Showbiz doin beats nowadays which have definitely a different flavor from his 90' sessions… its more simple in the form but more achieved in the mind … jthere's this architect who used to say that with the experience the more he was drawing, the more he was erasing - just keepin whats necessary.

Peace D

A real shame that GF Don is not on the Hip Hop scene anymore, he most likely got fed up with the constant wackness and the industry and who could blame him?, while I type this The 90's Sessions are in my headphones...Don has always been one of my faves...will check this mix D.

Peace

WORD UP FELLAS....

EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN DESTINY IN LIFE.....I'M QUITE SURE HE GOT FED UP WITH ALL THE BULLSHIT & DECIDED TO SPREAD HIS WINGS....

ME PERSONALLY, I'M HARDCORE HIP HOP TILL THE DEATH, DESPITE ALL THE TRIAL AND TRIBULATIONS I HAVE BEEN THROUGH FROM THE EARLY 80' TILL NOW..

FOR SOME REASON I THINK DON WILL EVENTUALLY DROP SOME HIP HOP SHIT....I COULD BE WRONG BUT I DOUBT IT......

MANY OF MY FRIENDS TURNED THEIR BACK ON HIP HOP FOR VARIOUS REASONS.....I USED TO CLOWN THEM FOR ABANDONING THE ARTFORM, BUT AS I GET OLDER I REALIZE YOU HAVE TO "LIVE AND LET LIVE"......

DON WILL ALWAYS BE AN INSPIRATION TO ME- FROM THE RHYMES TO THE BEATS, DUDE DROPPED SOME IMPRESSIVE SHIT.....

MAYBE THE HIP HOP NATION NEEDS TO SHOW MORE SUPPORT TO CREATIVE PEOPLE, SO THEY CAN KEEP SUPPLYING US WITH THEIR MATERIAL......

PEACE-
D

Gonna download this mix now, I've been a huge Don fan since the Stretch n Bob days. To be quite honest, I'm not a fan of don's post Diabolique styles. Even on diabolique you can tell he was going more to the mafioso type of stuff that was popular at the time, his beats weren't as dope and after Diabolique, forget about it, its like he was a different emcee completely.

So, while his mid 90's stuff is some of my favorite shit ever, I'm glad he stopped doing hip hop when he did or he would have been known as one of the biggest crossovers who lost his fans ever.

I hope its understood that while I'm saying this, he's still one of my favorites of all time...for his mid 90's music. Right after he did work on the Ultramagnetic 4 Horsemen album, that was the era that he reigned supreme in, imho.

And even his first album, I'm not a fan of. It was like once he blew up underground in like 94, then record stores were putting deadstock of his old album back on the shelf. And dudes were buying them up only to be disappointed that this was not the Don they were hoping for. For some reason it seems a lot of dudes still rate that album but it's just not in the same league as other albums from that time.
