" Reading Is Fundamental - Ice T Edition "

Some cats are quick to throw Ice- T under the bus.......

Folks dissed him when he clowned that little jerk off ,"Soulja Boy".....Many were quick to dismiss him after he dropped that Body Count shit..

And I can't forget the fact that the man who once yelled "Cop Killer" at the top of his lungs, plays a cornball police officer every week on mainstream television (Yeah, I admit that is hard to swallow)......

But guess what, he still gets respect on the BATTLEFIELD.....And below are some reasons why...

1...Before Ice even finished High School both of his parents had passed away....Instead of caving in, he took it it upon himself to figure out a way to survive in South Central L.A. in the late 70's early 80's.........How many of you trust funded Hip Hoppers still live with your motherfuckin parents ?

2...Sure Just- Ice & Schooly D were yelling gangster shit before Ice, but no one on the west coast except for maybe Toddy T represented that gangster lifestyle on wax the way Ice did..........He came before N.W.A. and everyone else that duplicated the gangster motif....

3..He attempted to put everyone in his crew "ON" with the formation of the legendary Rhyme Syndicate.......

4...His soon to be released documentary, "The Art Of Rap" looks like it will be one of the best documentaries on the actual science of crafting rhymes........Here is the trailer again just in case you missed it the first go-round...

5..While many so-called gangster rappers only glorified the outlaw aspect of doing dirt, Ice always showed you multiple angles of that particular lifestyle......He openly discussed the consequences and repercussions of gangsterism unlike many of his peers at the time...

6..He was the first artist from America to sign a European Hip Hop act (Hi-Jack) to a major label (Warner Brothers-via Rhyme Syndicate).....

I could go on for awhile but I think you get the motherfuckin picture......Ice T is a legend when comes to this Hip Hop shit regardless of his shortcomings and contradictions.....YA HEARD.....

Anyway, I just finished his new book "Ice - A Memoir Of Gangster Life & Redemption - From South Central to Hollywood".........Damn, he drops a crazy amount of proverbs, gems, and all that other fly shit for anyone that is willing to take the time to absorb 251 pages of substance.........Highly recommended...
