" London's Burning "

WHAT PART OF THE GAME IS THIS ?

It's the same song over and over again.....Police unnecessarily gunning down brothers like fucking dogs in the street...From San Francisco all the way to London, you constantly see stories in the news regarding police brutality and murder....

I know you don't come to this blog to read my rants, but the killing of Mark Duggan has struck a nerve with me and I feel as if I have to vent...A young man at age 29 with three kids is no longer here....

Just a couple weeks ago Kenneth Harding age 19 was fatally shot 5 times in the back by SFPD......And guess what, no one seems to really give a flying fuck...

It's the same song over and over again....."He was a drug dealer"......"He was armed"....."He was a thug, and he brought this on himself"......."He made a sudden move".....

Fuck all that bullshit, we all know what it really is........PURE FUCKERY AND BIGOTRY.....

To all my people out there in London hold it down and stay safe out there in the streets.......Step lively and move with caution...

" Prince Paul Speaks "

I'm quite sure all of the BATTLEFIELD readers are well versed regarding Prince Paul's music accomplishments and contributions, so there is no need to go into a long introduction....

The man is a fuckin Hip Hop genius....STRAIGHT UP....Instead of looping up James Brown breaks like the majority of cats were doing in the late 80's, Paul's sampling palette was diverse and he wasn't afraid to take risk by flipping samples from other genres that many producers of the time were scared to touch...

Not only is he dangerous with the production, he is a riot when it comes to comedy......I honestly think Paul could be a better stand-up comedian than half of these clowns I see on stage these days......SERIOUSLY....

Anyway, Nerdtorious. Com recently caught up with Paul to chop it about numerous topics......

PEEP....

"Speaking of new vs. old, talk about Gil Scott’s recent passing and how his work struck someone of your generation.

It’s crazy because you don’t even have to be in that era to know how great it is. You could put on Michael Jackson for a 1-year-old and they’d be happy. This is the same way. It’s just so good and there’s so much to get out of his music. Besides the obvious ones like “Bottle” and “Whitey Moon” the compositions and everything was so thought out. Today everybody is very carefree with their music unlike the ‘60s and and 70’s where you have so many social issues weighing on you daily so obviously the music reflected that and I think, in a way makes it better. Gil was simply so intelligent, so slick, and so thought out."

" Milkcrate Jewels 35 : DJ Spinna Version "

It's been awhile since I rocked a "Milkcrate Jewel" for the BATTLEFIELD posse, so without further delay let's take a journey into my lab where I am holding stacks and stacks of chubby crates...

DJ Spinna did a excellent remix for CMW that many people are unaware of......"You Can't See Me" knocks with crisp drums, floating keys, and a simple but effective approach that turns a mediocre cut into a 2 a.m. sure shot...

"You Can't See Me' 1996 Epic Records (promo copy).......

Next up to bat is "Don't Get It Twisted" featuring Sadat X.....It got some decent burn when it initially came out, but I don't think fools realize how insane the beat really is......Heavy duty, innovative stuff if you ask me......

Definitely worthy of repeated listening........

"Don't Get It Twisted" 2001 (Beyond Real- Landspeed) off of the Infectious L.P.....

" Blog Shots 56 "

Last week I hit you with Ghostface's top ten softest rappers in the game.....After discovering that Ghost actually maintains a blog (Big Ghost Chronicles), I stumbled onto part three of "T.T.S.R.I.T.G".....

AWWWW man, I can't believe how funny this shit is.......

For example...

#10 Drake....

"Surprise niggas! Ya boy Young Angel is back like he forgot his lip balms. Ayo yall remember the reactions niggas had when they seen those pictures that the nigga Jay-Z threw up on the Summer Jam screen of Prodigy dressed up like Mike Jackson? Niggas looked at that shit like it was pictures of son doin cartwheels in a bikini yo. Niggas thought that niggas career got dealt a deathblow wit that shit nahmean. N maybe it did kinda shake my nigga up namsayin....I dont know.

But in the meantime this merry little muthafucka right here got pictures of hisself sittin on broads laps n more pictures of hisself embracin other dudes than any nigga known to man... He STILL goin on with life like that shit all good. Cos aint nobody SHOCKED when they see the sus nigga with liquid vagina flowin thru his veins doin that shit namsayin. Niggas practically EXPECT that shit from son namsayin. But when you compare the MJ costume to this Farnsworth Bentley of Middle Earth look....you really cant see nothin that wrong with the Prodigy pictures no more son.

Either way...when it comes to Aubs you are lookin at the most softboiled creature on Gods green earth yo. This niggas music is so light in the ass that if you look real close at ya speakers when you playin his joints you can see tiny little heart bubbles comin outta em son.

HAHAHAHA.......BLAM,BLAM...

" Prodigy Speaks "

"The Illuminati (plural of Latin illuminatus, "enlightened") is a name given to several groups, both historical and modern, and both real and fictitious. Historically, the name refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776."

For many Hip Hoppers, the first time they heard anyone mention the illuminati was when Prodigy name dropped the secret society on the, "Who Shot Ya Remix"....

You know the line, "Illuminati control my mind soul and my body / secret society trying to keep their eye on me".......POW.

Luckily at a young age I was exposed to all types of conspiracy theory literature, which enabled me to think outside of the box while many of my peers were caught up in the average status quo frequencies. Nowadays everyone and their mother are yelling about who is in the illuminati and who isn't....

"Jay Z is a freemason son, you notice all the dark energy in his videos?"

HAHAHAHAHA.....

I hate to bust your bubble, but it's way deeper than that kid...Do the research for yourself and come to your own conclusions before you decide to start flapping your jibbs....

Prodigy recently popped up on the Alex Jones show for a couple rounds of gem dropping.....To my surprise, "Banana Clip P" held it down in a thorough fashion without succumbing to the "Scatter Brain Syndrome" that so many others fall victim to while discussing certain so-called conspiracy theories...

" Producer Spotlight : Lewis Parker Edition "

That dude from London, Lewis Parker is a monster when it comes to crafting ill beats on the SP 1200......He has been doing his thing since the 90's.....

After production placements on Ghostface album (Fishscale & More Fish) as well as John Robinson's newest project (International Summers) many people in the States have begun checking for his beats....

Earlier this year he released the solid "Dangerous Adventures E.P." with a roster that includes Sav Kills, Vast Aire, East Coast, Planet Asia, Killa Sha, Tah-Born, on mic duties......

Dope drum programming, intricate sequences, and impressive chops......DO NOT SLEEP TROOPER...

"Murder One" featuring Sav Kills, Vast Aire, T.R.A.C. East Coast, and Baron.........Dope shit, my only gripe is that Del rocked the same sample on his stellar "Future Development" album, (Del's Nightmare)

"Bang" featuring East Coast...

"Great Adventure Instrumental"

And while your at it, peep this interview with L.P. breaking down his production techniques, outlook on Hip Hop, etc....DOPE...

" Sadat X - No Features "

You have to give dap to the great Dot X for constantly dropping new material in the new millennium.....Instead of resting on his laurels and relying on past achievements, he is still in the lab keeping it creative...

And to this day Sadat approaches the artform in a original way with a style that is unbiteable (Yeah, I just made that word up motherfuckers)...

On X's latest release (No features) their were a couple joints that forced me to hit the rewind button....

"Day Of The Jackal" produced by Will Tell..

" Clip Up This Summer "

My dude Polar/Sonny Wong/ Viben Onerz is a god damn beast when it comes to graphics, graff, and comedy.......When we get together the jokes reach all-time high levels..

He has been the creative force behind the cover art for some of my illest projects (Remix Weaponry, Wax Weapons 31, and Strictly Weapons with Culpa One).....Salute my dude....

Peep these new tees that he cooked up for all the hardrocks walking around the avenue with an ice-grill.....If you want to cop one, you can contact him HERE.............

Polar if your reading this- reserve one of these bangers for the kid..HAHA.

" Mixtape Of The Week- Sample Source Edition "

I'm quite sure you have heard plenty sample source mixes throughout the years......Some are corny and it seems as if their only purpose is to pull producers cards, and violate them by exposing their samples....

Others educate the listener and take them on a journey by paying proper homage to the original compositions....

When I first started hearing these types of mixes in the early 90's, it got me open....Now in 2011 a DJ has to dig a little deeper in his crates to hold my attention (Many sample source projects recycle the same material these days) ....

Fake Blood (Yeah, I know the name is puzzling) goes all out on his latest mix, "Used Volume One".......Sure you might hear a couple songs that you heard before, but for the most part he keeps it fresh and unpredictable......Listen to it front to back and get your mind right....

Earlier today while flipping through the stacks- I came across a record that I haven't listened to in a minute.....Beat Nuts the "Rarest Nuts" L.P.

I caught this a couple years back and I was surprised it contained unreleased material, B-sides, etc....

One of the commercially unreleased joints that caught my attention was a cut called, "Robbed".....It was probably made during the "Stone Crazy" sessions because it sounds similar to one of my favorite songs from that album "Find That", except with a little more bounce.....

Eerie floating keys, Chuck D vocal sample, explosive drums, and plenty death threats = WIN....

Wu-Tang affiliate Dark Skinned Assassin dropped the stellar Down Low Wreckage E.P. in the mid nineties....Ill crime stories, menacing production, and all that other hardcore shit....

After garnering attention for the project he ended up getting incarcerated for three years which slowed down the momentum of his musical efforts.......He now goes by the name Dr. Ama and he released an album entitled "Split Personality" a couple years back.....
