" Style Warz, Part One Edition "

I just got done checking out this book by NYC legend, "Part One"..........WHEW......Your talking about a guy that got his start in the mid 70's, and still remains active to this day...

His crew TDS (The Death Squad) is full of top notch heavy hitters......Kool 131, Case 2, Skeme, Repel, Bear 167, Noc 167, Dez (Kay Slay- who is better with a spray can than a turntable in my opinion), Zephyr, Chain 3, Dondi, Delta, all repped TDS at some point in their careers......

For someone that has put in so much work, you would figure more people would be familiar with his pieces.......Here is your chance to get familiar......

Hip Hop Battlefield gives this book the stamp of approval JACK !!!!!

" Kings From Queens-Twin Gambino & G.O.D. Pt.3 "

It looks like Stu Bangas & Vanderslice are on a mission to wreck this year....This brand new flamethrower, "Kings From Queens" strikes another win for the duo....

Turn the volume to ten, put on your best screwface, and prepare for some QB pressure...

I'm digging this one....

" Joint Of The Day, M.B.P. Re-Post "

Today's joint of the day comes courtesy of one of South Bronx's illest- Money Boss Player, "Minnesota".....On this scorcher "Modus Operandi" he plays no games and shows you motherfuckers what hardcore Hip Hop is all about....

Minnesota is a triple threat when it comes to getting busy.....Makes his own beats, flips nasty rhymes, and engineer's his own shit.

WOW.....

I posted this up over a year ago, but it's only right that I give this one more action.....

Tune in troop....

And if your still on a quest to hear more drama, swoop up this podcast from the Heavy Listening crew that features all Money Boss Player material.....BLAM,BLAM........You better not sleep..

" Under The Radar Rockets: Prodigy Edition "

The problem with a lot of rappers today is that after listening to their rhymes, I can't remember a fuckin word that they said....HAHA..

I know you guys out there know what I'm talking about........I'm going to let you in on a little secret- No one gives a shit what your talking about, unless they can remember a couple of your lines...POINT BLANK...

Don't get it twisted up : I'm not referring to jingles and all those corny hooks fools are coming up with.....I'm talking about lyrics, punchlines, poetic value, proverbs, jewels , etc....

For instance, peep this lyric from Celph Titled off of the "Ninety Now" album...

" This ain't the rock of love, but I'll rock a thug / make you wear a rag and a wig like Brett Michaels does ".........Is that the best line I have ever heard, nah far from it.....But is it entertaining and crazy hilarious ?

YES INDEED.....

How about this other comical line from Celph......." When I'm holding the tec, I'll put a hole in your neck / equipping you with a permanent T-Pain vocal effect "......

I don't give a fuck what anyone say's.....That shit is funny as hell.............Celph Titled is not my favorite M.C. by a long shot, but I listened to those lines a week ago and they are still stuck in my head....

DO YOU GET MY POINT HOMEPISS ?

Guru, G.Rap, Big L, Ice- T, Chino XL, K.R.S., Rakim, Nas, Kool Keith, Ras Kass, Ice Cube, M.C. Ren, and of course Prodigy have so many quotables that I can remember off the dome it's ridiculous.......And there are plenty other M.C.'s that I should add to this list, but that would take forever......

If you have some quotables you would like to add-feel free to do so in the comments section famz.......

Anyway, here is a batch of Prodigy/Mobb Deep joints that many of you have never heard before.....

Enjoy...

" Hold It Down "- produced by Havoc..........And NO, this isn't that song with Nina Sky on the hook that you might be thinking about...

" Take It In Blood " - produced by Havoc......(This is my anthem right here..BLAM..)

" Thrill Me " - Featuring Big Noyd, produced by Havoc.

" How Thug's Play " Featuring Illa G, produced by Alchemist....

" Hip Hop Battlefield Kick Off "

Ever since I had my son (Jahmel Nesta), I put my shoe buying on hold and started picking up kicks for him....

Good thing I'm fully stocked HAHA.....

I was looking through the massive amounts of shoes I have accumulated over the years, and a funny thing dawned on me......Why have all these ill kicks if I'm not going to wear them more often ?

So from now on fuck stashing my joints...... Even though Summer's over, I have to start splashing the set again.....

Here are a couple joints from my collection that I felt like sharing with the Hip Hop Battlefield posse......Be on the lookout for my special AF1 showcase in a couple weeks troop......POW.

1..NASTY AIR STABS.....

God damn, look at the color scheme on these famo.....Sky blue, baby blue, grey, light grey, a splash of red, black, light brown, and dark brown....That's 8 colors of flavor.......

A lot of dudes don't fuck with Stab's, but I'm a big Stab fan when they flip them correctly.......BLAM.

2..TOP TEN WRECK...

C-Knowledge from "Digable Planets", ran up on me and started screaming his head off when he saw me rocking these heaters............Blue & White, nothing too crazy just an all around fresh shoe.......

What up "C" & Cashish in Philly...

3..AJ's

Yeah man, I caught these out in Seattle during a heavy digging mission awhile back.....To my surprise they only ran me 80 bucks.....I'm quite sure you would have to pay close to 200 hundred if you wanted these scorchers right now..

Green & Black pressure.....

4.. CROSS TRAINER SB's

Once again check the nasty color scheme: Black, grey, olive green, dark green, tan, powder blue, and baby blue......Somehow they made all these colors rock when it sounds like it would be impossible to pull it off....

Caught these out in S.F in one of my favorite spots in the entire country (which will remain nameless)....

5..ADIDAS MID'S....

My man Mad Miguel from L.A. blessed me with these dynamite sticks.........Karreem Abdul Jabbar in full blown karate mode on the side, with the ill clear stripes.....What's fucking with that ?

I have been terrified to rock these in public (gotta stay scuff-free), but I'm going to crush kids with these next Summer....POW,POW...

6..DUNKS,DUNKS,DUNKS....

WHEW..

Do I really have to explain why these are ridiculous ?.........Every time I wear these someone will tap me on the shoulder and ask " Where the fuck did you get those ? "........

I don't even know myself.....My man Big Ali hit me off with these a couple years back......What up Ali.......

So that's it folks......I should pull out some old Lotto's or some vintage Ellesse to really shake you motherfuckers up, but I'm going to fall back for now......

*Salute to my seven week old son/sun----- A.K.A. Jahmel Rockwell....A.K.A Jahmel Grizzly......A.K.A. Little dude....A.K.A. NO SLEEP FOR POPPA LARGE....HAHA

Peace-

" Golden State Warriors, Part 3 "

Hailing from the streets of San Jose, California- "Jihad" has been putting in work on the mic device for a minute now...His collaborative albums with D-Styles (Third Sight) are incredibly original, heavily detailed, and in a class by themselves....

Go back and listen if you think I am bullshitting.....

I decided to find out what Jihad was up to lately and stumbled on these 2010 cuts.....

" Drugs And Such "

" Polar Ice Cap Raps "

Polar Ice Cap Raps by Roughneck Jihad

" Monday Morning Shakedown "

This compilation of goodies was put together by "D.J. Focus"......It features a gang of cuts that are bound to make you want to smash something up....

My only complaint is that many of these songs would have sounded fresh blended together, other than that he comes equipped with dangerous selections so I give it the thumbs up regardless....

" Nineteen Ninety Now Sampler "

If this album was just instrumentals I would be just as excited about it......Buckwild was absolutely on fire in the mid-nineties, and he is still far from a slouch when it comes to production in the 21st century.....

Hopefully this sampler will hold you down until the album officially drops....

" Masai Bey : Collector's Bey "

Finally got a chance to listen to this loose collection of songs by former Def Jukie,"Masai Bey"........

It's nearly impossible to describe his approach to emceeing....Abstract, original, ill, refreshing.....Nah, none of the descriptions really give him justice....

How about on some next shit !!!!!

What people seem to forget is that he usually makes his own beats...I have to give him a pat on the back for that on general principle....It doesn't hurt that most of his beats are actually FRESH..

Check in....

" Say Uncle " - Produced by Masai Bey

" Reference Text "- Produced by Masai Bey

" Motion Man Speaks "

That wild and crazy dude, "Motion Man" hooked up with Hip Hop Game for an interesting interview recently......He talks about his new album, Kool Keith, his creative process, and all types of other shit that will hold your attention..

TUNE IN....

And while your at it-check out my second favorite song off of the "Adult Situations" album...

"Your The Woman"- produced by Jethroe & Unagi.......This beat is ridiculous..

" Zeitgeist, Part 3 "

I personally do not believe in conspiracy theories.....If someone comes up with the proof to document secret warfare, the illuminati, or systematic genocide, it is no longer theory it is actual fact we are dealing with....

The problem is that many people are programmed to denounce anything that challenges the status quo.....Instead of turning off the boob tube and and finding out the truth for themselves, they would rather criticize concrete evidence without putting in some serious study time...

While some folks are obsessed with exposing Jay Z as some type of secret society puppet (Which he probably is at this point)- there are bigger targets out there that have caused more damage on a broader scale than Jay Z could ever dream about.....

" Gab Gotcha 2010 "

Fresh off a seven year prison bid, Beat Nuts affiliate "Gab-Gotcha" comes to the table with some 2010 spices on his newest mixtape (United States Vs. Gab Gotcha)....

Here are a couple highlights.......TAKE A LISTEN..

"Throw Your Hands Up"

"Love Changes"

" Industry Rule 4080 "

Since my father and his side of the family are from the Caribbean (Cayman Islands STAND UP), I was exposed to the sounds of Reggae at an early age....

Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Yellowman, and even these tiny kids from Europe, "Musical Youth" got much burn in my household.....What I loved about Musical Youth is that they were extremely talented, and their young minded approach appealed to me....

Here are a couple facts about Musical Youth that you might not know....

1..Their first album was nominated for a Grammy...

2..One of the first black acts on M.T.V...........I think they were the first actually..

3.."Pass The Dutchie" went all the way to number one on the U.K. charts, and went on to sell over four million copies....

It seemed like they just vanished after their first album....Although they recorded after that, collaborations with Donna Summer and Eddie Grant pretty much began a downward spiral for the group and they never fully recovered.....

A couple days ago I watched a show on TV-One (Unsung) that went into detail about the rise and fall of the group.......My suspicions were correct: Their record company straight took advantage of their age and JERKED them....

One of the members (the drummer Freddie Waite ) had a nervous breakdown, the bass player (Patrick Waite) died after suffering from years of poverty, drug abuse and neglect.....SAD.....

Eventually the remaining group members sued their record company and received over a million dollars in back pay, almost thirty years after the release of their debut album..........

Check out a sneak peek below..

" Hip Hop Battlefield Remix Series "

*In the above pic---Me, Peezo, and Big Kufu..

At this point, I have probably put up about a hundred of my own remixes on HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD......I feel that as time goes on my production skills are getting more detailed and more dangerous....

It's been a lot of hard work, but I am far from content- every single day I learn more.....

To everyone that has given me their opinions, I appreciate it.....

Anyway, peep this remix of Royal Flush's "Worldwide" that I did awhile ago.......This is actually a re-post, but I feel that it deserves more shines....HAHA....

ENJOY.....

" Blog Shots 42 "

Marcus Respekt or Mark Speqt (if you know what time it was with Sub-Verse Records), has a blog that you should peep next time your floating around cyber-space.....

Funny as hell writing style, on-point analogies, and a deep appreciation for Hip Hop makes this a spot worthy of checking out...And while your at it, go out and cop his ill mixtape (Bloodlust 2) if you haven't already trooper....

Tell him that grimey kid from HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD sent you jack !

* I spotted this hilarious T -Shirt at Mark's blog......." LAME " -TRUE INDEED......

" Under The Radar Rockets: G. Rap Edition "

If you have been following Hip Hop Battlefield for the last three years, than you already know Kool G. Rap is my all-time favorite M.C.

He created tons of imitators, could battle and also write cohesive-conceptual songs, and G rap is still relevant after two decades of mic wrecking...

WHEW......Be on the lookout for his new album ,"Riches, Royalty, Respect"...

Back in 1998 he dropped a gem of a song called "Drums Of Death", produced by D.J. Shadow.....When I talk to G.Rap aficionados, for some strange reason they always forget this joint....

So for all of you that slept the first time around-YOU KNOW THE DRILL...

* Beware of the long intro....The music doesn't actually start until the 1 minute mark...

" Moment Of Truth, Part 2 "

If you are a Gang Starr fan (like myself), this interview with Jazzmattazz trumpet player ,"Brownman" is a must read......

Instead of speculating about the last years of Guru's life, you can read for yourself about the awkward situations surrounding our fallen Hip Hop soldier....

R.I.P. Guru, gone but definitely not forgotten......The struggle continues...

TUNE IN...

" Hip Hop Battlefield Goes To Amsterdam "

When many people think of the "golden age" of Hip Hop, they automatically think 1990-1995......In my opinion if there is a golden age, it would have to be from 1986-1996.......

It would take a couple days for me to fully break that down, so I'm not going to even attempt to do that on this particular post...But if you are looking for instant proof of my claim, take a listen to this live in Amsterdam recording of Rakim, Public Enemy, and L.L. Cool J in 1987.....,,WOW....

Don't sleep.........Props to O.S.H.H.

" Hip Hop Battlefield Remix Series "

I'm not one of those dudes that submits beats to cats all the time...Sure I would love it if someone like Kool G.Rap slaughtered one of my joints, but I don't like to bother motherfuckers and here is a couple reasons why....

1..Everybody and their mother thinks they can make beats....

2..Not many people are willing to crack open their wallets and actually pay you a half-way decent amount of money....

3..Why would I send you beats if I can rhyme better on that shit myself ?

YA FEEL ME ?

Recently I decided to go against my usual pattern and actually submit some beats........I'm not going to reveal who the artist is, but I will say that he is a heavy hitter when it comes to that hardcore shit....

My beats passed the test with flying colors, and it looks like some real ill shit is on the horizon.....

I'm really excited about this situation....I will unveil who the artist is in a few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled....

In the meantime, here is a little remix action for you- Beat Nuts "Do You Believe"...You know how I get down on the production steez: Ugly undertones, machete chops, and a healthy amount of bass waves......

POW,POW.....

" New Group Home Shit "

It's good to hear that Nutcracker & Lil Dap are back in the lab cooking up music again...On their new album "Guru", they definitely have some highlights.....

On this cut right here "Pay Attention" featuring Smiley The Ghetto Child & Guru- the drama levels reach an all-time high....
