To be a truly fresh M.C. you have to have some quotables under your belt.....If I can't recite a couple lines from your rhymes than you are not doing your job....I'm not talking about memorizing jingles, I'm talking about remembering certain things that you said because it was that ILL...
That's why Kool G. Rap & Big L are my favorite M.C.'s......Shit, these two have scrolls of non-stop quotables....
Quotable- " A pimp that loves shrimp and lobster / and for a hobby I'm hitting niggas up like a mobster.....I got a story for each little poor territory / the ghetto glory in all categories "........BLAM..
Big L.....“Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous”
Quotable: “Yo I admit I’m a sucka, a lowdown dirty sneaky double-crossin’ connivin’ muthafucka / Breakin’ in cribs with a crowbar / I wasn’t poor, I was po’, I couldn’t afford the o-r.”
YIKES....That is just straight up ridiculous.......I could go on and on forever with memorable lines that G.Rap & "L" spit.....
Lord Finesse sat down with Paul Arnold (Hip Hop Dx) to talk about Big L's mindset during the classic "Lifestyles Of the Poor And Dangerous" sessions......YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS JACK !!!!
CHECK IN ...
Big L- "Represent"
Quotable- " I pack a gat not a slingshot / step to this and get an ass whipping like Rodney King got ....Or get beat to your death like cochice / my law say's no peace, fuck the police "............

While most people were sleeping last night, I was up in the lab tapping out some next shit...WHEW.....I really hate to pat myself on the back, but I feel like I am in some type of crazy zone with the beats right now...
For this weeks remix I flipped the vocals from the U.N. "Nothing Lesser".....The original beat by Pete Rock is a god damn monster....Heavy layers of bass, odd noises coming from every direction, and of course crispy, well-cropped drums.....
So for my remix I wanted to try something different (As usual).....Instead of going the chaotic, hardcore route, I opted for more of a laid back, crime boss feel.....Don't get it twisted: you won't hear any cornball synths, or any of that other shit....Just raw, stripped down chops....
This is definitely in the top 20 of the best beats that I have ever made......BLAM.
* If you heard the original sample source- you would truly bug out because I sliced it up so crazily......LISTEN CLOSELY..
Bunch T.V. sits down with Bob James to talk Biz Markie and the mysterious "Mardi Gras" version without the cowbells (HAHA), Hip Hop, sampling, etc....I wish more artist that Hip Hop producers have sampled, would have the same attitude as Mr. James...
Do yourself a favor and check in-you might just learn something...

Remember when Serius/X.M. had shit on smash and you were unable to get links for Preem's show ?......To this day I still don't have Serius/ X.M.
One of the main reasons why I was even considering it was to hear the Live From Headquarters show...Every Friday "P" does his thing behind the decks and blesses us with two hours of nonstop new joints.....
YOU KNOW THE DRILL...
What's going on out there HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD posse ?
I decided to splash ya'll with 5 certified bangers that will definitely ring your bells.....Big shout out to everyone that pops up on the regular....
1..Guilty Simpson & Madlib- " Kill E'm Remix "
For some reason they left this off the O.J. Simpson album....When I heard this a few months back, it made me put on a instant screwface...POW,POW,POW.........
2..Oh No & Alchemist (Gang Green)- " Chain Swinging "
New shit from those Killer Cail dudes.....If this is any indication of what they have cooking up, than their forthcoming album should make heavy noise....PEEP..
3..F.T. (Fuck That)- " Problemz "
This kid from Brooklyn can write crazy battle rhymes, but he can also flip conceptual, in-depth songs as well.....If you slept on this gem when it first came out, here is your chance to get your mind right JACK !!!!!
4..N.Y. Confidential- " Backstabbed "
I posted thing song up over a year ago....SO WHAT......Shit, I might even post it up again HAHAHAHAHA........My favorite cut from the mysterious N.Y. Confidential crew.....BLAM.
5..Slum Village- " Reunion 2 "
It looks like Slum are calling it quits after losing a couple core members (Understandable).....Their new album " Villa Manifesto " had it's moments........On this song " Reunion 2 " things get a little personal.....LISTEN UP...

Since a couple cats hit me up about the last edition of "Under The Radar Rockets", I feel that it is a must that I tap into that frequency once again...
The other day my dude "State" passed me a c.d. that had a ridiculous amount of heavy joints on it....One of the cuts was entitled "Robbed" by the Beat Nuts.....
WOW, I can't believe I never even knew about this shit...
By the sounds of things I assume this was recorded during the "Stone Crazy" era....Loud abrasive drums, sinister floating keys, and plenty gun talk..After doing a little research I found out that this mystery track was released on a project called "Rarest Nuts".
I'm not sure what record company put it out, or if it some black market type of secret release.....Regardless, grab yourself a cold drink, snatch up a oscillating fan, and prepare for some official DRAMA......
Cope 2 (KD) is a true heavyweight when it comes to graff.....For over 20 years now this man has been putting in a tremendous amount of work...
The " King Of The 4 Line " has achieved considerable mainstream success without watering down his techniques...
Did you know Cope did the cover art (Letters) for B.D.P's " Sex & Violence " album ?......
I could go on and on about his accomplishments, but instead of doing that, I will just point you in the direction of his blog.....Interesting video footage, pieces, updates, and all types of other shit !!!!!!
When you head over there-tell him that the grimy kid from HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD sent you jack...

" In the 1980's graffiti was pushed out of the subways as the trains were cleaned once and for all. In the 1990's, much of the graffiti action in New York migrated to the city's walls, enabling the 'writers' to execute more refined and concept-driven large-scale pieces. By the end of decade, this new medium was being used to great effect. Photographers James & Karla Murray took great pains to faithfully capture an unprecedented re-birth of the movement, documenting the most significant murals created between 1996 - 2001. Broken Windows contains insightful interviews, an extensive selection of women s' graffiti, and features the work of more than 180 artists from The United States, Germany, France, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Holland, Italy, and Norway ".

Last weekend I headed up to Oakland hills for a little fiesta at legendary "Cray-One's" crib....Here is little info on Cray if you are not knowing....
1...Dude has been smashing the graff world for over 20 years now (Talk about putting in work)...
2.. Filmed and published several times, such as in the book "Spray Can Art", "Graffito", "Piece By Piece", and "Freight Train Graffiti".....
3..One of the first graffiti artist to have a one-man gallery show on the west coast...
I think by now you get the motherfucking point, dude is no JOKE !!!!!
We had a real good time...Food was poppin, sun was out, and I had an opportunity to have a real heated discussion with my dude, "Bas-One" (Style Elements Crew/ N.S. / WASET)....Talk about heated, the conversation got so out of control that we both ended up shouting the lyrics to the demo version of "Rock The Bells" at each other...
" Jack The Ripper, King Hercules, / Professor of death on the seven seas " .......(OH SHIT).....
Thank you "Bas" for that conversation...We are not playing when it comes to this Hip Hop !!!!!!!!!

Are you sick of hearing whiny, sap suckers complain about how their girlfriend left them high and dry ?
Me too trooper...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Back in 1996 Trife & D-Mob (Who happen to be blood brothers) put out the Gun Town's Finest L.P. on "High Wire Records"....Here are a couple joints from that album that will force you to break something up....
Produced by Tony Sturdivant....
" Gun Town's Finest "
" Running From The Mob "
"When you live the hood life, shit is trife / running from the mob, backing niggas down- word to god"....

" I'm thinking of taking my own life, might as well / except that they don't sell weed in hell....And that's where I'm going because the devil is inside of me / they make me rob from my own nationality ".........
(Sticky Fingers-Last Days)
BLAM, BLAM, BLAMZZZZZ......
I'm back with some more remix action for the HIP HOP BATTLEFIELD posse......
When I sat at my sampler yesterday making this beat, I knew deep down that I was dealing with some explosive frequencies...I was getting so hype, that I had to find a hype acapella to match the intensity of the sounds blasting out of my MPC..
Ahhhh, the "Evil Streets" by those crazy baldhead dudes Onyx........This has to be in the top three of the best songs that the trio has ever made....And the crazy thing about this song is that, "Fredro Star" made the original beat....
For some reason after 1995 I stopped hearing what he was capable of doing behind the boards (It's a shame because it sounded like he was headed in the right direction)....
Anyway, you know how I do.......All samples, all ugly, all Hip Hop Battlefield certified.....
If your in search for dusty breaks, my man Kid Dyno (London) has got you covered homeboy...On his latest "Breaks For Days" radio broadcast- he blesses us with over an hour of sureshot head nodders....
The first half consist of all sorts of breaks that will keep your ears on alert mode, the second half is packed with under the radar Hip Hop treats...TWO THUMBS UP...
So do the right thing and get your day started properly...

In the nineties, the "Beat Nuts" could do no wrong.....
A few rowdy albums, a gang of heavy duty remixes, and a couple world tours solidified their stamp on the Hip Hop nation......
Here is a cut by "BN" that you probably haven't heard before (Unofficial release)...."You Suckers Ain't" is vintage Nuts, wild-out, party crasher type shit....
Big up to Vinyl Addicts...
LISTEN UP !!!!

Fresh off of a stint from prison, "Tragedy Khadafi" gives us a glimpse into his beat selection process....It's a shame that only one or two of these beats caught my attention.....
All you producers out there better step your CHOPS UP !!!!!!
Tragedy deserves more heat than this fam.......

Prince Paul easily makes my top ten producers list.....While most fools were still in the process of raping James Brown's entire catalogue, Paul took things a step further and sampled from a wide spectrum of different genres before it became commonplace in the Hip Hop world.......
Of course he gets plenty of credit for introducing the skit, but he deserves more credit for being an all around hilarious character.....When I saw him spin a couple years back in Seattle, he had me laughing for the entire performance.
Maybe he should enter the realm of stand up comedy (I'm dead serious)......
Chris Faraone (Boston Phoenix) sat down with Paul recently for a quick interview......He discusses his feelings on Drake, Long Island, his son, etc....
What up Hip Hop Battlefield posse ?........
You came over here because you need some new flavors to bump in the whip huh ?
Well here you go family, I got you covered .......
Peep the tracklist.....

It's the Strong Arm Steady Gang.....
I wonder what S.A.S. would sound like if that dude Xzibit was still in the fold ?
Anyway, your boy Krondon A.K.A. Mr. Yellow Face has a blog that you should scope out while your floating around in cyber-space....
WEST COAST STAND THE FUCK UP !!!!!!!
" Dizzy Gillespie plays the sax / me, myself I love to max ".......
Wait, hold up a second.....Dizzy didn't play the motherfuckin sax, he played the trumpet.....HAHAHAHAHAH...It's o.k. Greg, we forgive you because "Funky For You" was a certified scorcher...
Greg Nice got his start beat boxing for T La Rock back in the early 80's.....He went on to form Nice And Smooth and the rest is history as they say.....What people seem to forget is that Nice And Smooth were on Def Jam back then, and you couldn't turn on MTV Raps without seeing one of their videos at the time.....
I'm talking major burn....."Funky For You","Hip Hop Junkies", "Rhyme Slow", and "Dwyck" all recieved major airplay (I'm leaving out the song they did with New Kids On The Block because it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth)....Wow, MTV has sure changed for the worst...
Peep out this interview with Greg that was conducted by Jack Paine (Hip Hop Dx).....He talks about his friendship with Tupac, Sleeping Bag Records, Hip Hop history, etc.........Interesting read..
YOU BETTER CHECK IN...

Martha Cooper and Nika Kramer first began documenting the new breed of B-Girlz in a breaking competition in Germany in 2004. Following the dancers to the biggest battles—including Mighty4 in San Francisco, the Spinfactor Finals in Rhode Island, Breaklanta in Atlanta, IBE in the Netherlands, and the International Battle of the Year in Germany—they photographed and interviewed B-Girlz representing everywhere from South Africa to New Zealand, from New York to California, and from Japan to Germany. Culminating in the first annual We B*Girlz competition at veteran B-Boy Ken Swift's studio in Brooklyn, Cooper and Kramer's work will introduce a new generation to the art of B-Girling.

So my new sound proof studio is finally finished.....A brother is really happy right about now my man...All my equipment is set up, no sound leaks, and the freshly laid carpet has that nice 2010 smell to it......To be honest, I haven't been this happy in quite sometime...
Only one fucking problem...
Transferring a dumb amount of records to the new spot............SHIT, I love vinyl to death, but this is just ridiculous....How much abuse can my back take while moving all of these god damn crates ?
Anyway, while looking through the magic crates I went on a crazy trip down memory lane.....Funny how some quality records get lost in the shuffle (When you have as many records as I do it's bound to happen)....
In the above pic I am holding up two records that feature "Mista Sinista" production.......The criminally slept-on "Cliffhangaz" (A.B. Universal, Kukuu Bag Of Bonez, etc) hit a home-run when it comes to sure shot singles with the hilarious skeezer anthem, "Curry Chicken Head"...
Don't sleep.....Cliffhangaz definitely do their thing on the mic, but Sinista's production is as equally dangerous....POW.POW..
And next up to bat is the hard to find "Insane Psycho Home" E.P...
Peep this cut entitled "Padded Walls" also produced by Mista Sinista..
I had the opportunity to chop it up with Sinista about ten years ago, and I was completely surprised at how humble he was...Dude even hopped in my car and listened to my beats (He gave me the nod of approval which made my day HAHAHA)........
So here's to you Sinista......
A couple years back I hit up my dude "Refa One" to bless me with a ill piece to hang up in the laboratory.....It took him a little while, but he eventually accomplished his mission...
When I first saw this joint, I almost lost all composure...
The "DRASAR" on the side of the train was fresh enough for me, but he went the extra mile and flipped a character on the side to complete the explosion.......BLAM,BLAMZ...
* Click on the picture for further analysis...
To be honest I was a little skeptical when I heard CNN were going the War Report 2 route....Sure Raekwon, and Sadat X, pulled off the "sequel attempt" with flying colors, but could this Queensbridge duo recapture the magic of their debut ?
Some of the beat selections are questionable- but they definitely stepped up their wordplay...All in all, War Report 2 is a well rounded album that showcases newfound growth....
Here are a couple shining moments....
"The Oath"- Produced by Hazardous Sounds- featuring Raekwon, and Busta Rhymes.......My top pick of the album...
"Live On, Live Long, part 2"- Produced by S.P.K.
Premier covers 15 years of Duck Down material on his latest radio show broadcast....Toure, Steele, Marco Polo, Skyzoo, and Pharaoh Monch stop by to join in on the festivities....
Salute to those Duck Down dudes for keeping the fire burning.....
YOU KNOW THE DRILL...

They don't call my man "Refa Onerz" the Style Supremacist for nothing motherfuckaz...
Just in case you haven't heard; Kufu and Refa are on a mission to wreck everything this summer, so all you toys out there, you better- GET YOUR HAND STYLES UP !!!!!!
Awwww man, this is straight flame thrower heat right here....Salute to all North Star Zulus past and present who represented /represent that flag properly...
* Click on the pic and prepare to have your wig blown back....
Yeah, it's been a minute since I laced you guys up with "M.C.J.",but this one right here is going to send you into a tailspin....
"Dirty Face Angels" released this single "It's Not A Game" b/w "6 Emcees" back in 1999.....What really caught my attention was the dramatic production from the criminally slept-on , Louie "Phat Kat" Vega......
Piercing strings, haunted house piano loops, and booming drums..........What more do you need ?
"It's Not A Game"
Well it looks like Mr. Funk What Ya Heard and myself, will be taking our brand of turntable abuse on the road again....In about a month we will be hitting Las Vegas and Chicago with dancefloor scorchers galore...
Big up to my manager/booking agent for doing his motherfucking job- hopefully our plan for a Vegas monthly pans out correctly.
It seems like I just got back from Chi-Town..
Anyways, I decided to see what those Chicago Hip Hop project dudes are up to (Cosm Roks, Monkey,Roper, Turnaround)...Just what I thought: 4 hours of nonstop joints, newness, slept on cuts, and a couple secret spices....YEAH...

Can't believe that it is Monday already....Damn, 2010 is moving along at a frantic pace to say the least.....
Here is some beat morale to jump start your work week...
Dusty Groove. Com wrote :
Tripped out psychedelia from the Italian cinema scene -- great stuff from the late 60s through mid 70s -- filled with percussion heavy mod rhythms, loads of leftfield oddball flourishes, and pulpy grooves galore! This set was compiled by Carlo Bagnolo and Claudio Fuiano who do a terrific job of assembling trippy, but never too wild stuff by some of the heavyweights of the era, along with some less familiar names -- and the tunes are total gems! It's a mostly wordless batch, with some surprisingly funky bass and percussion, loungey horns, strings and flute, and loads of trippier elements at the fringes! Titles include "She's A Born Loser" by Phil Clinton & Peter Smith, "Bali" (new edit) and "Donna Piu'" by Giorgio Gaslini, "2968" by Carlo Savina, "Danza Primitiva" and "Cinque Bambole Rosa by Piero Umiliani, "Blue Rhythm Festival" (new edit) by Piero Piccioni, "Mood" by Augusto Martelli, "Fai Presto, Fai Presto" by Gianni Ferrio and more. 14 tracks in all -- a number of which are on CD for the first time ever!
